I worked at Irex full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Small company so everyone knew each other like family.
For a truck driver pay was good starting out.
work and life balance was good.

    Cons

    Poor insurance offered.
Equipment was ok unless needed something fixed then its your fault it broke.
Treated like con because it is a second chance company which is good if you had bad record if not they would treat you like you did.

    Advice to Management

Has potential to be a great company no one wants to leave but far from it needs to rethink values.

I worked at Irex full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with - by the book (i.e., like the U.S. Government) so you know when/where you duties are.

    Cons

Can be stifling to work for as everyone knows you business and the higher up you go it becomes rule by committee

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees more and take a little more risk.

I have been working at Irex full-time

    Pros

Few management layers; management does look to the future and can change direction and course readily since there are not many layers; employees wanting job related training or education can get it...just ask; still has a small company vibe for a sizeable international operation; field contracting positions have the greatest opportunity for earnings and advancement

    Cons

pay scale seems to be an issue for retaining good administrative and support employees; not much room for vertical advancement in administrative and clerical support jobs

    Advice to Management

Continue working on transparency and open communication with employees; Sharing news about field contracting successes/higher profile jobs could help corporate clerical/admin staff overcome the sense of isolation from the company's end product.
