Big management and salary problem

Pros

Work/life balance is good. As long as the work gets done, hours are pretty flexible. There are some good benefits (i.e. computer purchase assistance, tuition assistance)

Cons

Salary is not at all competitive. Iteris wants as much work as it can squeeze out of its workers for as little pay as they can possibly give. For this reason, keeping actual talent and experience is a big problem; especially in the Grand Forks office. Iteris likes to brag about all the cash it has in reserve during its quarterly reports so it really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Communication among Iteris management is miserable. Left hand never knows what the right hand is doing. A lot of employees have "Vice President" in their title which makes company organization appear incredibly cluttered, inefficient and lazy.

Pros

-401k match -Many smart/educated people on staff -Holiday gift basket

Cons

-AVOID applying to this company -Recent acquisition by Almaviva sent company into a tailspin, Iteris has limited decision making power -Poor executive decision making caused over-purchase of new product from Japan, company struggles to sell the remaining inventory, this impacted layoffs - more below -No women in executive leadership, classic boys club at the top, all are geriatric and greedy men -Regarding the new CSO: -One of the worst leaders I have encountered in my 20+ year career -Exhibits poor leadership ability and complete lack of empathy for customers and Iteris staff -Orchestrated a layoff and fired twenty A-Team employees in February 2025 -Does not exhibit respect or integrity towards staff, only cares about money and squeezing customers for dollars -Does not understand how to structure a sales division for revenue generation nor customer support -Tricked employees into meetings regarding potential promotions and then fired them with help from HR -When conducting layoffs, he fired each person and then left the call immediately (within 2 minutes), demonstrated a total lack of respect and is generally devoid of integrity HR: -CHRO fundamentally does not understand employee experience, never once initiated mechanisms to collect employee feedback -When asked about potential additional equity for non-ESPP/RSU holding staff during an All Hands post-acquisition call he responded to the inquiring employee, "Is that a serious question?" and laughed in front of all attendees -Open Sesame courses are pathetic and insulting to staff who requested professional development -HR does nothing to support employee growth and remain totally siloed, no business partner team to support cross-functional leaders -I did not receive any outreach from HR once during my time with Iteris -They require all employees to drug test when HQ is in California, total nonsense General comments: -Layoffs are bound to continue as company slides after firing top producing employees -CEO promised employees that no staff changes would take place after multiple All Hands calls post-acquisition which was proven to be a direct lie to 400+ employees -Holistically divided and broken company with extreme departmental silos in place, missing processes, leaving employees continually frustrated -Tenured consulting staff are often unwilling to consider process changes and are known to be condescending in meetings -Limited tech stack with executive refusal to purchase technology employees need to get their jobs done -Strange cross-company culture where employees refuse to turn on their videos on virtual calls, everyone sits in silence, HR team does nothing to improve this culture -Do not apply to any position at this company!! Most current open roles are lower-paid backfill positions after CSO reposted roles at lower titles and compensation. Fun Fact: Did you know it's going to cost you 4x as much to rehire and retrain instead of simply keeping the talented staff you already had?
