I have been working at KPA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

KPA has a great culture both in the field and in the office. Its business casual atmosphere along with the team work atmosphere makes for coming to work easy. Co-workers are always happy to help you out and get you up to speed.

    Cons

With a growing company, there are always growing pains but KPA has handled it well.

    Advice to Management

Most of the managers are great at listening and leading rather than being the authoritative type.

I worked at KPA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Unknown. They purchased the company I worked for.

    Cons

Very difficult to contact HR. No one responded to my inquiries about COBRA until I had an inside contact go up the chain of command. I was invisible.

    Advice to Management

When you take over a company, don't forget that HR is newly responsible for the consumed company's laid-off employees.

I have been working at KPA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Set your own schedule, home offices for some

    Cons

Unproven new hire starting salary is higher than proven loyal staff

    Advice to Management

Take care of your loyal team members who have made KPA what it is today.

    Pros

Very good company to work for.

    Cons

    Too Many locations to cover.

    Advice to Management

Anyone working hard to make management.

I worked at KPA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are extremely good. If you need good health insurance and a really nice retirement plan, it's a good place for that. Pay is somewhat poor otherwise. High focus on bonuses, even for positions that aren't a good fit for bonuses.

    Cons

QA is extremely undermanned, don't expect any help unless you're on the pet projects.
Communication is a serious problem within software development and the company in general. The new CIO/Tech Director is taking steps to make this better, but it was still a nightmare when I left.
Prepare to get blindsided, a lot. If you hear a date, there's a better than even chance that it's incorrect.
Company policies are a mess, expect to hear at least four different explanations for one requirement while employed with KPA.
For a company that provides HR software, they are quite terrible at HR.

I worked at KPA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I liked everyone in my department, manager lived up to his open door policy. He also invested in training us as much as possible. I enjoyed how different departments worked with each other. The company retreat was awesome.

    Cons

A lot of turnover with outside sales reps made it difficult to maintain team cohesion. Also the location wasn't optimal but that's a personal issue. Also a little bummed that they outsourced (and from what I hear, later shut down) our whole department so I don't have a job there anymore.

    Advice to Management

With most of your employees coming from Denver, it would be nice to have a few more work from home days instead of having to fight through 45 minutes + of traffic. Also, stick to products and services that you know instead of looking for the next shiny thing.

I worked at KPA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You have a client load and you set your own schedule based on client load for the quarter.

    Cons

Demands placed on consultants became increasingly unrealistic. They had an entire sales team but the requirements placed on consultants for sales made it to where we practically set up the deal and let the sales team come in and take credit and commission. Dedication to clients became less important than sales goals.

    Pros

Good set of people to work for and to work with. They treat employees well and encourage team building, bonuses based on performance and positive work culture.

    Cons

Seems like the company was stagnant in terms of growth.

I worked at KPA part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I loved my job, got paid fairly, and great company atmosphere.

    Cons

Too much office politics. I loved my work culture, but sometimes there was too much emphasis on appeasing others at the expense of growth.

    Advice to Management

    Respect the small guy.

I have been working at KPA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Company in growth mode creates plenty of upward and lateral career opportunity. Results driven culture that rewards top performers. Fast paced but fun place to work i with all the standard benefits plus snacks always available, catered lunches, Thursday ice cream but best of all the chance to do meaningful work with a great team. Products and services help make workplaces across the country safer and more efficient and in icompliance. Employees can be proud of what they do.

    Cons

The pace and focus on results is not for everyone. Culture of innovation, try multiple approaches, experiment and be ready to make some mistakes and then move on can be daunting for those looking for just a job not a career.
