I worked at Keithley Instruments full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Keithley was perhaps the best company for which I have ever worked. Very nice and respectful people and a company that invested a lot in innovation and marketing and had a global footprint, even though it was comparatively small.

    Cons

Some challenges have arisen since the Danaher takeover and the integration into Tek (I was still there when it occurred), but they are not insurmountable.

    Advice to Management

Remember that Keithley is differentiated from Tek, with a unique product set and brand value within the research and semiconductor areas that it took decades to build. Retain these as best you can in order to grow market share for both companies.

    Pros

Excellent engineering team, fascinating customers and product applications.

    Cons

Lost a lot of its personality when acquired by Danaher.

    Advice to Management

Separate from Danaher and take a longer term view!

    Advice to Management

    too late

    Pros

    -Good pay
    -Good benefits
-Some really great people here since there aren't as many opportunities in the area.

    Cons

    -The building is really outdated
-Management tries to be friendly but bullies too often (very passive aggressive)
-Fake corporate culture tries to make you feel wanted but won't provide support for you to do your job.
-Flexible hours as long as your immediate supervisor allows you to be flexible.
-Managers try too look good to their bosses with the expense of their employees.

    Advice to Management

Have a more stable system in place for a work day schedule and pay more attention to employee reviews.

I worked at Keithley Instruments full-time

    Pros

I was fortunate to be hired as an analog engineer and moved into a project management position. I was there seven years. As I said, best engineering team ever. Same with production. Good marketing.

I was pretty good at circuit design when I hired in (or so I thought), but learned a great deal while I was there. This was long before Tektronix was the parent company.

A note about my ratings; they are about 10 years old.

    Cons

Had issues with the management, especially with the engineering manager at the end of my 7 year stay. Upper management couldn't seem to find an engineering manager that they were happy with; although some of the guys that are say that the engineering manager that is there now is good.

    Advice to Management

It seemed that upper management had little respect for the engineers. These guys are the ones that put money in your pocket. They know the products, the customers, and the users; they are worth listening to.

    Easy going city
Very few companies in this field at large level

I worked at Keithley Instruments full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Not a bad place if you're new to the industry and getting your feet wet. Good internship program for engineering types. Great cafeteria, a little pricey but the meals are cooked right there.

    Cons

You will spend oodles of time doing Danaher corporate training modules, reviews, metrics, etc. and not actually doing your job. Quality went into the toilet when they moved the manufacturing facilities to China.

I worked at Keithley Instruments full-time

    Pros

Helpful people, mostly adept. Strong engineering. Some senior management was very good.

    Cons

Afraid of conflict. Accountability not there for bad decisions. Loyalty at the expense of performance.

    Advice to Management

Address conflict. Hold people accountable for mistakes. Ask more questions to make sure you are getting the whole picture. Spend more time with customers to find out what they want.

I worked at Keithley Instruments full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. Great people. Very professional, hard working and highly competent.
    2. Good working environment. A large company with a small company atmosphere.
    3. Danaher. Danaher's influence has been a good one.

    Cons

    1. Tektronix. Tek is a poorly run company with absolutely no soul. I specifically left Keithley because of Tek, not because of Keithley.

    Advice to Management

Pray Keithley is removed from Tek and becomes standalone again.
