I have been working at Knox County Schools full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Great schools located in the area with continuing education available through the Universities located in East Tennessee, many who over programs for teachers and assistants.

    Cons

Good schools, Great teachers, and great students make the KCS a group to start with. The feeling as though you are not being supported only comes after you have worked long enough to realize you are not supported. Pay is marginal at best and beginning teachers in surrounding counties receive better pay than veteran teachers.

    Advice to Management

Great pay and jobs at the top are not the best way to build the reputation of a school district. Pay teachers and staff according to their peers and provide meaningful support will go a long way in developing teams of teachers willing to taut the reputation of a wonderful District.
