Pros
Think of LSS as great on the job training for another career in healthcare IT. If you're fresh out of college or looking for something new, this is the place to start. They'll hire with just about any degree, and in some cases if you have no degree. Put in your one or two years and you'll be able to apply to hospitals around the country and easily get a job paying double the salary. The people are great to work with. Everyone is going through the same thing you are, so you form a bond even outside of work.
Cons
Don't plan on anything close to a lavish lifestyle. You'll start making in the upper 30's to lower 40's for a salary. Because of the amount of work you are expected to do, you can never catch up on work. Clients become irritated because of this and they take it out on you. Although there may not be an alternative, the business model of LSS and MEDITECH is to find as many new employees as they can, pay them a low salary, and watch them walk out the door a couple years later. They lose a great amount of knowledge this way. Although since hospitals can afford to pay more money, there is no point in LSS paying a little extra. Everyone will leave anyway.
