    Pros

    This is a great way to fund your education. Most large universities will provide their graduate students some funding. From what I understand at LSU, each department has a specified salary that they pay their students.

    Cons

    Sometimes research assistant work is grunt work, boring, or tedious. But at the end of the day, you are getting paid to get your education which is worth it to me.

    It provides a great environment for students to do their research and to enjoy the culture.

    Cons

    Nothing as particular, every department is great except the Electrical Engineering department, no funds in EE department.

    Keep up the Mike culture forever

    - Lots of events and professional development opportunities available for employees
    - Great community of faculty and staff
    - Lots of opportunity for advancement within the university
    - Wonderful benefits
    - Off on holidays and also holiday breaks

    Cons

    - Parking passes are expensive and sometimes, do not guarantee a close parking spot to the building
    - Benefits package for spouse and family is fairly expensive
