Pros

Definitely one of a kind business, but not always in a good way. Flexi time is offered. Climbing wall, squash court and other toys onsite. Fully funded summer party every year. Lots of opportunities for apprenticeships and internships. Mainly bespoke work so everyday is different. Opportunities to work abroad on site delivering systems. Ideal place to work if you have OCD and love staying in Liverpool hotels. Some cool technology to get your hands on and play about with.

Cons

No overtime is offered and good luck claiming back any TIL, unless you get on really well with MD/HR. Bad management means that EVERY project is under costed and lots of pressure is put onto project leaders and technicians. As not enough hours have been allocated to projects you are then expected to work for free so that the project meets the ridiculously short deadline and budget. Management try to use the fact that there is a squash court, climbing wall etc. to warrant people staying back in their own time with no reward. You can progress through the business if your face fits and you get on with the right people. Unfortunately there is a lot of "one-upping" other people in order to seem better than others which can create a nasty atmosphere. The MD is massively over the top about everything and tries to micro-manage all aspects of the company. No set break times are given and if you are caught talking/not working for a small amount of time you will be disciplined. The lab is a health and safety nightmare - enter at your own risk. The MD believes chemicals don't expire so dont be alarmed when you find harmful chemicals that expired in the 90s sitting on a cupboard shelf.

Pros

Tidy and modern workplace Pool table climbing wall and squash court Microwaves Nice coffee Sandwich van Nice organised nut and bolt wall Gym and showers Yearly staff party Access to tools at weekends and after hours Many experienced people that can help with work

Cons

Bipolar managing director that cant trust his employees and would rather stress about a dusty shelf rather than the real issues with his company MD is unapprochable as never know what mood he may be in Constant micromanagement from HR Not many oppertunities for progression unless your face fits Poor pay and staff expected to work unpaid overtime and they justify this by offering "perks" such as a climbing wall Very stressful work enviroment with crazy deadlines for underfunded projects Insanly tight profit margins for one off robot builds No set break times No organisation Timesheet that the MD and HR go through with a fine tooth comb and discipline anyone with more than half an hour down to none project tasks Bizzare interview process (have to wire a plug) Strange internal structures Often a lack of work so can be a lot of standing around and waiting Most the reviews on here are from work experience and uni students and are encouraged by managment to leave a posative review

First of all thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. I'm sure you will appreciate we don't necessarily agree with all the points, but we can only learn an improve by listening. We strive to employ folk who are enthusiastic about engineering and self-motivated to work hard and manage themselves. We understand this way of working is not for everybody and we apologies if you felt ‘Not great’ during your 2 years with us. We wish you all the best in your next endeavour.
