I have been working at Libbey full-time

    Pros

Generous vacation, some strong leaders, moving into cutting edge technology (although cloud ERP may be bleeding edge technology)

    Cons

Negative politics, chases and heavily invests in shiny ideas without clear or measurable objectives and lacks follow-through to reach ROI, doesn't trust employees (both new and old hires), terrible annual raises for above average performers, little opportunity for advancement for high performers.

    Advice to Management

Award top performers, not "top talkers".
Decrease infighting, negative politics and personal agendas that undermine the mission of the business. Tactics frequently include distortion and filtering of information, finger pointing, and reprisals. Ask for, and use, facts not just "gut" hopes and hearsay, to make decisions.
Remember that consultants will tell you what you want to hear and their biggest objective is to make money for themselves. Utilize your internal resources more for planning and strategy.
Fill key vacant leadership positions with experienced / proven and knowledgeable candidates (it costs Libbey far more to have someone inexperienced, or without relevant experience in 15+ years) and check their credentials! Current leadership does not have all of the functional knowledge and is making some naïve decisions because they don't have real experts advising them in key areas.
Have managers focus more on developing and empowering their employees rather than treating their frontline experts like dumb tools. You have many extremely talented people that know their area better than their boss does. Leverage it!

I have been working at Libbey full-time

    Pros

    Good fringe benefits, competitive pay.

    Cons

Leadership is living in a bubble. Talk about driving a Passion for Winning yet fail to encourage behaviors that lead to success. Ignore differing perspectives from qualified people.

    Advice to Management

You already have talented people. Listen to them! It's 2016, the old way of doing business is obsolete and will lead to more problems (i.e. Toledo strike).

    I worked at Libbey full-time

    Pros

Competitive pay and benefits with nice vacation time (except, depending upon your manager, some don't really want you to use it). Clean and modern office space. Some friendly co-workers.

    Cons

Constantly restructuring leadership and upper level management. Has an extremely high turnover rate which is widely known around the Toledo community, and is not a good thing under any circumstance. Horrible communication across departments.

    Advice to Management

Give the employees that you have a chance to prove themselves and in turn, yourselves a chance to lower your turnover rate. The fact that well-known and respected companies across the NW Ohio region are aware and discussing Libbey's TO rate could potentially be hurting the business. Also, increase positive communication across all departments and locations.

    I worked at Libbey full-time

    Pros

Well known brand in glassware. Nice people. Autonomy

    Cons

No communication between departments. Company restructuring. Everyone is afraid to talk to each other about anything for fear of losing their job. Not a lot of teamwork. Favors young mellinial women that work cheap and keep their mouths shut.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what is happening to your brand on a street level.

    Pros

Products are the best in the industry. Company history is known for being a great and innovative company. Recent changes, flex work environment, open communication, invest in brands are all positive

    Cons

Company leadership is constantly changing. Hard to be consistent with all the change and shifting focus. Coworkers are great, but many questions about priorities and who to follow

    Advice to Management

stay the course, settle down, develop the employees and give them a focus

    I worked at Libbey full-time

    Pros

If you can make it at Libbey, you can make it anywhere. I was stressed ALL of the time, but it definitely strengthened my skills to take on any challenges

    Cons

Where do I start. Training was very minimal, and then one day you're just thrown into the fire. They would say that mistakes were okay and that's how you learn....of course until you get fired for a mistake that you made!

    Advice to Management

Train your employees and let them know that you truly value their hard work and efforts.

I have been working at Libbey full-time

    Pros

Flexible work schedules including telecommuting opportunities. Casual work environment...jeans, sneakers...

    Cons

Minimum advancement opportunities; way behind on technology; high rate of turnovers in senior and executive level management

    Advice to Management

Invest more in developing your people. Reevaluate to see if the right people are placed in the right positions
