Not just a place to work, a place to grow
Feb 9, 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I recently attended Lucid's company kickoff event, and I could not be more excited about this coming year. They are an amazing and supportive employer that truly values their employees. Although last year was a difficult year in tech generally, Lucid did not have a layoff. Everyone is friendly and welcoming (part of their "teamwork over ego" company value), and they make sure to create an environment that encourages collaboration, growth, and innovation. My experience is that the salaries are competitive and reasonable, the benefits package is comprehensive with plenty of options for everyone (including free mental health sessions with licensed therapists, fertility benefit, etc.), and all new hires get equity plus are eligible to be part of a refresh grant program. I've been impressed by the DEI initiatives because make real impact and are not just splashy words. The work itself is also quite fulfilling. My projects are varied in scope and complexity, challenging me to come up with creative solutions to difficult problems. No matter what role you play or how long you've been here, there's always room for growth and progression. Leadership at Lucid is incredibly passionate about maintaining a culture of ownership where everyone feels empowered to bring their best work. The atmosphere of mutual respect has allowed me to feel safe while pushing boundaries in order to achieve goals faster than ever before. Lucid is a place where I've been able to learn from my peers, develop myself professionally and personally on a daily basis, be productive with meaningful work. Highly recommend.
Cons
None, really. Empowering employees and staying financially responsible - Lucid has done both, creating the perfect balance for success.

Dave Grow and the leadership team are amazing

Great leadership and people. Best group of people I’ve been around in a work sense ever.
Cons
Not enough Hint water stocked in the fridges.

Pros
The engineering/product side of the company has a really good culture. We have automated testing and continuous deployment, and no one is blamed or punished when people make mistakes, we just try to find ways to prevent them in the future. Almost every engineer I have worked with has been willing to be proven wrong, and if you have a valuable idea, no one shoots it down because of your title.
Cons
Unless you do something absolutely amazing, you will likely be expected to work at the level of the title above you for ~6 months to a year before they will actually promote you. It is much easier to get hired to Senior Engineer than it is to get promoted to Senior.

Talks the talk but does not walk the walk
May 17, 2023 - Sales Account Manager IIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I don't have much to say about the company or the culture, but I can say that there was select individuals who did make my experience worthwhile. There were certain people who went to bat for me and were willing to mentor me, and for them, I express my gratitude.
Cons
Lucid talks like they have the greatest culture ever, but I have never been part of a more toxic sales team and it all comes from the front line managers, the directors, and the VP's. The past 18 months have been incredibly difficult to sell in as most SaaS companies have experienced. However, rather than "leading with empathy" like they constantly preached, there was always discussion about how bad we we're performing and how that needs to improve. It's a necessary discussion to have, but it was done with anything but empathy, sympathy, and mutual understanding. Furthermore, sales leadership always demanded more, but they never provided any solutions, trainings, or quality 1 on 1 time to improve the desired metrics. Training sessions were nothing more than role plays and presentations. Trainings should have consisted of recorded call reviews, managers joining live calls and providing constructive feedback, and team training sessions to applaud what someone has done well. This NEVER happened despite my suggestions. The closest thing we ever got was people sharing best practices. The best suggestions that. management and leaders ever had was to make more calls, send more emails, and then send your manager and end of day report with your activity metrics even though they can easily see it in salesforce. The toxicity mainly came from my manager who never grasped the concept of proper encouragement, constructive feedback, and creating mutual goals for building success and being accountable to them. And of course you can't blame just him because the Director put that on him and it just went down the line. Also, this company his a high percentage of pacific islanders and other asian people working for the company. There is no problem with this whatsoever except for the fact that if you're not one of those, you're automatically an outcast. Many of the people who fit this category will never get let go for poor performance because their race and class protects. This culture will not let go one of their own. I was laid when they decided to let go of people from the sales staff. I performed at the exact same rate and quota attainment as other pacific islanders and they did not suffer the same consequence I did. Just be prepared to see this class of people running the show if you join this company.

Great place to work!
May 24, 2023 - Account Executive in Salt Lake City, UTRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great culture and great product. They care about peforming but they care about people more and we're in the trenches building a platform for people to work visually, stay aligned and innovate throughout their projects
Cons
There's no way around it, it's tough out there right now. But we're weathering the storm better than you'd think and we're positioning ourselves to come out stronger when things turn around.

As a top performer, you have autonomy, great pay, and flexibility here. Great leadership
Apr 19, 2023 - Enterprise Account Executive in Salt Lake City, UTRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Leadership is great and understands the space very well. They are making the right moves to unseat other competitors within our account base. The comp plans are enabling and allow reps to meet and exceed quota. Company culture is incredible. High performance is expected, but I have never been demeaned or talked down to by management. Management admits mistakes when they mess up and commits to do better. Then they execute.
Cons
Both a pro and a con - company is VERY frugal. Be prepared to roll your eyes occasionally at some of the cost savings measures or non-lavish expenditures (comparatively speaking) but also watch how many other companies lay off in masses where Lucid never has. Selling this software is both a bottoms up and tops down motion, can take awhile to get deals done.

The kind of culture that makes you want to stay for years
Apr 14, 2023 - Product Marketing Manager in Salt Lake City, UTRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Lucid Software is the most collaborative place I have ever worked. There is not informational gatekeeping or competitive environment, and I am constantly learning from the brilliant people around me who are always eager to help in any way they can. The teamwork culture is very real here, and it's a fun and rewarding place to work from both a people and a product perspective. I've been here for over 4 years with no intention of leaving anytime soon because this culture is truly unique. There are several people here who have left Lucid only to re-apply and return because its culture is truly unmatched. Leadership really cares and makes smart decisions.
Cons
The only complaint I have is that they do not provide tuition reimbursement. Beyond that, the benefits are great.

Pros
This is my first real job out of college, and I couldn't be more grateful for the opportunities and support I've had here. Managers are consistently excellent and I've constantly been pushed to grow, learn, and try new things. I am excited about the career opportunities I have looking to the future and know my team will support me. I truly enjoy my team and coming to work. Practically - benefits are excellent, leadership consistently asks for and acts on feedback, and I've been very impressed by strategy through the recent economic difficulties that have preserved morale and prevented layoffs.
Cons
Lucid has a hybrid work environment and is remote-friendly, but I think is still settling into what makes the most sense. Sometimes it feels there are informal or unwritten expectations about in-person activities or work, and clarity here would help employees confidently make decisions and plan.

Pros
None. Don’t trust anything they promise you!
Cons
Don’t work here! They tell their employees they value them and they are family and then treat you like you mean nothing. 3+ years of solid performance washed away with no prior notice, no warnings, etc. Be careful.
