    Pros

Pay rate is decent. Good for someone who's currently in college.

    Cons

Make changes that affect the employee without consulting employee. Poor communication with employees. No room for advancement unless you are willing to relocate and they do not pay or help with relocation.

    Advice to Management

Better communication and consider employees more.

I have been working at MVM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The only pro of this job are that I am getting experience working for a federal agency, and the people I work with here are amazing.

    Cons

    1. If the government closes a building for a snow day, MVM does not give employees who work there the day off. Even though we physically cannot enter the building because it's closed we either have to take PTO or unpaid leave. The worst part? If you take unpaid leave, the company is profiting off you since they've already been paid by the government.
    2. PTO accrual is the slowest thing known to mankind and you only get 80 hours total vacation and sick time if you've been there under 5 years. Even though in the offer letter they send you it says you have the designated hours, be care because it might actually have to accrue and never reach that number. Don't worry though, they'll give you the time off if you haven't accrued it. You'll just have to take it unpaid and they company will once again profit.
    3. Transparency is a HUGE issue. Both of the above issues I was not even aware of even after reading the employee handbook because they are hidden policies that they tell no one about
    4. We are the only contracting company that is required to "clock in" and "clock out" at the beginning and end of the day.
    5. They don't pay for parking or commuter expenses in any way shape or form.

    Advice to Management

Think about your employees and their well-being, instead of just profit.

    I worked at MVM part-time

    Pros

Paid TDY assignments. The linguists are mostly great people.

    Cons

Management really does not like to be out-shined. This is the type of company that prefers mediocrity over hard working dedication, because how dare anyone make management look lesser by comparison.

Micro-management: From the words you choose to how long you take in the bathroom.

Management passes the blame. The client (even though you're not allowed to "fraternize" with the client) told me they were extremely upset with the company for things being behind and management had the gall to blame it on the linguists, when it was their reports that were behind because they only came in 1-2 hours a day if at all.

The environment is hostil. Imagine being an unpopular girl in a class full of judgmental cheerleaders.

The reviews on this page are not all for Mvm Inc. don't trust those positive reviews. The only good reviews are so obviously fabricated by them or by people that belong the the clique.

There is no chain of command, or if there is, there is no transparency. I had grievances about management but I was never once told who was above my superior.

    Advice to Management

Hire supervisors for each case, not just one supervisor for multiple cases. Listen to your employees. Lead through example. Be loyal to the people that work hard for you not just the people that suck up to you. Relax a little. Enough with the favoritism and jealousy. We're not in grade school for that kind of drama.
