I have been working at Maidenform full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The 401K plan through Fidelity is great. Vacation 10 days a year and Paid sick time up to 40 hours a year. These benefits are just for upper management.

    Cons

There is no personal life balance. Vacation system is not good. You can't use your 10 days of vacation at once, so you can't plan any trip or time off over any 9 days; that's the maxium number of days allowed to be off. Your paid sick time will be used against you on your attendance, for management as well as for associates. Being short-staffed it makes it impossible to call in sick because there is no one to cover your shift if you are sick. You can't take any longer than 30 minutes on your lunch or it will affect your attendance.

    I worked at Maidenform full-time

    Pros

Small, close knit community environment. Great people who really care about what they're doing, from the bottom up.

    Cons

Somewhat weak management was unable to stay focused on corporate goals. We went through several rounds of executives for succession planning who were not set up for success due to poor judgement on behalf of CEO

I have been working at Maidenform part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Staff have always been supporting and friendly and are often willing to work with your schedule. Since it's retail this means you will still likely have to work holidays and weekends but management have always been good about scheduling around other jobs and regular commitments. Good job security as people often stay with the company for several years. Does provide 401k to all employees including part time.

    Cons

While working in individual DTC stores can be great there are often very little opportunities to move up within the company itself. Managers often stay for years and hold the only fulltime positions at the retail level. They are also the only ones who get tapped for promotions like Regional and District managers, meaning if you want to move in retail you will likely have to switch companies and try for a promotion at each move. Corporate can also be behind on sales promotions, meaning they sometimes fail to foresee how promotions could contradict each other or change promotions at the last minute with little support or explanation.
