I have been working at Max Brenner (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Great Advancement Opportunities
    - Competitive Pay
    - Extremely Friendly Upper Management
    - Delicious Chocolate Treats
    - Multiple International Locations

    Cons

    - Not very many locations in the U.S.
    - Needs updated menu
    - More practical floor-plans and restaurant layouts recomended
    - More practical dishware recommended

    Advice to Management

Hire the best of the best. Do not settle. Make sure to thoroughly train all staff in their position and include as much about the Chocolate Culture as possible. The lore of the company is slowly fading and needs to be prevalent across all stores. And no matter what, focus on the best possible over-all experience for the guests.

I worked at Max Brenner part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The staff is awesome. For the most part, everyone gets along and chooses to even hangout outside of work too. The scheduling is flexible, perfect for college kids or just those with busy lives. Front of house and back of house get along well too. Loved the place and other employees are what kept me here so long. You can make money pretty easily here.

    Cons

Management management management. Until something is changed with the general manager and a few others underneath, the restaurant will not flourish as it has the capability to do. There is no attention given to employees and therefore no excessive urge to stay. They sometimes make the job more stressful than it already is rather than helping. Additionally, it can attract tourists, some of which are foreign and may not understand American tipping procedures. I only gave this three stars over two because of the excellent friends I made through working here.

    Advice to Management

Implement a training program. The videos shown are not helpful and the sheets given for training are outdated. Communicate with employees. Stay present and on the floor as much as possible. You ask that of employees and therefore should lead by example. Upper management should really invest more time in hiring of managers, including hourly.

I have been working at Max Brenner part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The food is pretty good and the idea of the restaurant is fun. Coworkers are amazing and it felt like a small family.

    Cons

Management micromanages BIGTIME. Insane amount of side work included in the job that isn't mentioned during the hiring process. Probably the toughest serving job I've ever had because work is not spread out evenly.

    Advice to Management

Figure out what you're doing. Customer service isn't the issue here, there is an overall lack of motivation due to minimal resources

I worked at Max Brenner part-time

    Pros

Fun people, very tight-knight, lax managers

    Cons

As a barista the hours are horrible, if you're on a closing shift the cleaning itself can take upwards of 2+ hours, terrible tipping policy (left with $27 dollars in tips after a 9-hour shift while servers left with $300 after a 5 hour shift)

    Advice to Management

    Revamp tipping for Bartenders

    Pros

Works well with school schedule and scheduling is flexible and convenient

    Cons

Managers do not know how to control their employees. They are too easy going and employees have no repercussions for bad behavior.
