I worked at Millis Transfer full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

pay was decent, trucks were okay, but they did have some lemons, was texas regional so home most nights off weekends, not sure about nowadays, overall not a bad company

    Cons

Insurance was a joke, elogs, and cameras in the trucks, mechanics are nothing more then part swappers, dispatch was okay, always seemed to be a good guy/bad guy, of the two, did have my share of issue's, but could happen anywhere i suppose, they were testing out force fueling/routing when i left, not sure if thats still around or not

I worked at Millis Transfer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked at the Richfield location. Biggest pro was that there was a pleasant atmosphere (when I worked there). The proximity from Milwaukee and Chicago. Their local route allow full time mechanics to do local routes on weekends to pickup extra cash .

    Cons

For me the biggest con was that their deadlines were impossible maintain. They asked more of you after you were past your limitation and didn't care if you were injured or not.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, take care of some of their more serious needs.

    Pros

New pretty red Trucks, TV and satellite radio, refrigerators, microwaves, blah Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah blah blah

    Cons

OTR Trainers have there own agenda! Not here for you! Care more about teaching you how to break the rules and not get caught! Double standards. Stay away from here!

*** recruiters are making promises they can't keep! ***** tell you what you need to hear!

    Advice to Management

Greg, fix your training program! You are CLUELESS on what's really going on!

I have been working at Millis Transfer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay for both mileage & accessorial portions. Very flexible and generous home time. On time for your home time 99.5% of the time. Nice equipment which is well maintained. Lots of drop and hook loads. Once you get a little time under your belt and prove yourself to be reliable they keep you busy and leave you alone.

    Cons

Only thing specific to Millis is the inward facing on board camera. Outward cameras are also mounted in the trucks and I'm all for them. Any other issue is the trucking industry in general which you would find at any trucking company that runs OTR or Regional.

    Advice to Management

    None.

Started out good. Home time was good. After dispatcher was switched got better.

    Cons

Cameras inside watch at all times is an invasion of privacy. Weekend dispatch gives no loads. Watch everything you do can ruin your record with any little thing.

    Advice to Management

Take out inside the truck cameras. Value drivers who work hard.

    Pros

overall good company Shane is a great dispatcher trucks for most part are kept up well
hometime/days off never had a problem. Pay is good even if you don't get any raises

    Cons

Work load not enough.Took all the good paying runs away from locals and gave them to regionals
even if we do get paid the same.
    And gave us their scraps.
Couldn't ever look forward to steady work busy one day nothing the next

    Advice to Management

Put your local guys on the clock don't put all your eggs in one basket. Locals can haul and will haul more then beer.Just need to line up the work and pay them decent

    Pros

Hometime is awesome, dispatchers seem to be pretty excellent, smaller family-owned company.

    Cons

Not really many and I can think of, just that it seems like sometimes they have problems getting Freight.

    Advice to Management

Consider changing your pet policy, and also get more people on your sales team to increase the amount of Freight that you have available.
