Pros
Moderna is a company were we feel included. There are several Employee Resource Groups that foster networking through social activities. There is room for growth. We all are encouraged to take advantage of the trainings offered through the Moderna University. These trainings include Management Academy and AI. Our benefits include global recharging days, in addition to 13 holidays. Great rewards programs.
Cons
Very fast company growth at a global level.

Pros
The pay and benefits are top notch for the industry The science is amazing and they have a very long pipeline that is showing great results
Cons
Constant management re-orgs and turnover. Constant chaos all the time. Everything is run with knee jerk reactions and decisions, which makes schedules and managing people a nightmare. The hiring practices have been chaotic at best. There are constant waves of over hiring then trying to recorrect. It has been the most stressful years of my life. I would not do it over if I had the chance.

Pros
Great WLB - Depends on Manager and VP - some cases it is great others I have heard to be bad. Unlimited Time off - Need alignment with Manager. Great additional benefits like Benepass - $300 per month to use practically anywhere to help your physical and/or mental health.
Cons
No Job Leveling - after having 6 years of work experience, Bachelors degree and Masters Degree, I am still a Sr. Specialist & some person with just a bachelors degree is also a Sr. Specialist. Very unethical distinction of requirements for a job and it’s level, no movement between teams as pointed out by another reviewer, hiring “dumb” (not joking!) people from outside who have no idea about the processes but are just hired for the sake of managing people - which is what they can’t even do! Growth opportunities are hence limited, one just works in the same role and designation for even 5 years as I have seen without any promotions.

Pros
The people working at Moderna, regardless of department, are hands down the smartest people I've ever met. Seriously, that place is overflowing with brainpower. And it is ALWAYS cool to know that, in some way, you're positively impacting the lives of others. Whether you're in Finance, HR, or IT, in your own way, you're making it possible to provide valuable theraputics to people across the globe.
Cons
Forget about "work/life balance". It doesn't exist, and it doesn't matter what department you're in. The tricky bit is that everyone in all of these departments is really passionate about the mission, and that's contagious. Before you know it, you're constantly checking your phone for emails at all hours of the day and working on the weekends to keep up with everyone else. If you're naturally inclined to be a workaholic, DO NOT APPLY. The culture is built on workaholics, so there aren't any breaks or mechanisms to help you if you start to spend more time working than you do with your family.

Pros
Moderna can be an exciting company to work for - with one of the most robust pipelines in the industry, there are never any dull moments. - The benefits are outstanding (could go a little higher on 401k, but still good) - Compensation and equity are strong - There is a lot of opportunity to grow and learn - Fast-paced environment - A lot of genuinely hard-working people - Company has a strong financial outlook and focuses consistently on R&D - I believe they have a good future ahead of them
Cons
Overall, my experience has been pretty good, but a few cons to watch out for: - The workload can be heavy - this is not a place to work if you are looking for strong work/life balance. - The culture can be intense and if you don't have a really good relationship with your boss, it's difficult place to work. It feels like a lot of fear-based leadership, from the top down. - A lot of managers are new managers, and many don't have training in how to manage people. There aren't currently formal ways to provide feedback in a safe way about managers either. - There is a strong focus on learning, but not necessarily clear career growth paths. It would be great to see the focus shift so that it's more tangible for how your career can grow both in and outside of Moderna.

Pros
Amazing mission and science Great compensation and benefits Smart colleagues (in general) Well-funded, independent company Room to learn and grow
Cons
Please read the warnings in these reviews and take them very seriously before considering working here —- Fear-based culture, unspoken belief that fear of failure and pressure will drive people to perform Distorted, dysfunctional, and opaque performance ratings process, pressure to fire people quickly Leaders are direct but that can easily cross over to being intimidating, aggressive, offensive Extraordinarily political — landmines everywhere 70/30 in-office rule is tracked even though many people can be more productive at home You will be given limited headcount and resources to get a job done and then criticized for why you are not delivering with greater urgency No boundaries — meetings, Teams messages and emails can start at 6 AM and go through the night, uninterrupted time off is unheard of Many people leave (on their own or fired) before two years, everyone is replaceable HR exists to manage headcount and hire but there is no internal support for employees crumbling under the workload and pressure Burnouts and breakdowns are common, your family, friends, and external interests will have to become a second priority No real commitment to diversity, lots of words but no action “Moderna is not for everyone” is the tagline that excuses a toxic and dysfunctional culture

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are deeply concerned about the issues you have raised in your review. We are fully committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment where every employee feels supported and seen -- these are not just words as members of our Employee Resources Groups can attest. We are working hard to provide benefits that support our employees across various aspects of thier professional and personal lives, including company-wide recharge days to take time away from the office organization-wide. We encourage anyone to explore the robust options we have for everyday support across our benefits offerings. As we continue to scale globally, we recognize that various teams work across time zones and schedules, and coordinating meetings and connects can occur outside normal hours. Given the concerns raised in your post, and how they stand in stark contrast to our core values, we urge you to reach out to your HR business partner to provide more detail or, should you wish to remain anonymous, to Moderna’s Speak Up hotline - https://moderna.whispli.com/compliancehotline. Thank you again for sharing your feedback.

Pros
The people you meet and some of the benefits
Cons
If you are considering working for Moderna, think long and hard before you sign. Moderna has some serious issues on their hand, that you need to consider before joining. One of their biggest issue, is that they aren't transparent and everyone hides their true intentions. example: Moderna had a freeze, and they held a meeting that prevented workers from transferring to other departments they interviewed for. Did Moderna tell anyone? No. HR and directors corroborated lies to tell people, "Sorry the position is closed", or "they went with an external candidate". If they aren't transparent with current workers, what else aren't they transparent about? The next big issue is the amount of people at Moderna going on medical leaves, due to stress and being burnt out. Someone please investigate this, because I know Moderna/HR won't look into this. The number of people taking medical leaves to due to stress is alarming. Moderna likes see themselves as fast paced, but the reality is that they are unorganized and chaoctic, which causes people to be frenzy, and they will claim that is their "culture". On the other hand, if you don't have a family, or a life, please work here.
