    Pros

The company values & rewards hard work, professionalism & loyalty. Focus is on healthy lifestyle and personal & professional growth. Lots of perks from free lunches, personal trainers, top of the line social events. There is opportunity to travel and develop broker & carrier relationships. Management invests in the people and company.

    Cons

The business is constantly evolving which may be disconcerting to some, but for others, it is a springboard to success.

    Advice to Management

    Keep investing

    Pros

People that work there are great to work with. There are a lot of young grads who start out there. The culture is also very fun.

    Cons

HR makes the place hard to work for. They do not treat their employees like adults. You should not have to beg HR to leave early to pick up your kids if you came in early to make up for it,

I have been working at NSM Insurance (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The employees make the company. Great coworkers and a strong focus on team work. Management for the most part is willing to help when asked, the door is always open policy. There are plenty of benefits: company outings, casual Fridays, fitness initiatives, and holiday events. NSM is also great with giving back to the community and charitable events.

    Cons

No flex time or work from home days can be tough. I'd like the option to work from home during a snow storm instead of taking PTO. Salary is not competitive.

    Advice to Management

A competitive salary would be nice, but the ability to work from home or utilizing flex time also keeps your employees around.

    Pros

I've made great friends- lots of young people. There is an incentive to work out during lunch and get 75 minutes- gym in the office and Schuylkill River trail close by. Other perks such as Christmas bonus, fun events around holidays, etc.

    Cons

Lack of career planning and training. Compensation could definitely be better. Some upper management is incompetent. No ability to work at home.

    Advice to Management

Ad flex time, and surveys to access managers. Invest in training and professional development.

    Pros

Very nice people, great work atmosphere, systems are not hard to learn, and you feel like a valued part of the team.

    Cons

I cannot think of any problems I had here. Great place.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

I have been working at NSM Insurance full-time

    Pros

    - Flat organization: Allows you to gain exposure to many aspects of your department and have an ability to really make an impact
    - They reward hard work and loyalty
    - Growing organization = stability. There has never been a lay off
    - They offer many perks such as free meals, yearly performance/birthday/service bonuses, all-expense paid vacations, free gyms/personal trainer sessions, community service events, team building days etc.
    - There is a work-hard, play-hard attitude here driven by individuals who are team oriented, and entrepreneurial in spirit.

    Cons

As the organization continues to grow, looking into increasing technology capabilities that would allow employees to have more flexibility.

    Advice to Management

    - Developing more clear career path for employees within all departments
    - Stay relevant with the changing times but continue to improve on the great culture that has been established

I have been working at NSM Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Young environment. That's the only thing.

    Cons

Saw all of the reviews before I started working here... I thought it would be different but it's not. It's an absolutely disgusting company. Watching them fire people for no reason. I guarantee one of them is going to file a lawsuit. Some directors say things like "don't let Geoff know about this". A horrible place to work can't wait until I can leave

    Advice to Management

Get an HR Department. CAO is dispicable. LISTEN to your employees.

    Pros

There are alot of little 'perks' which provide charm to the place like lunches, holiday competitions, and events. Their benefits are ok and they provide monetary incentives for holidays and anniversaries. Good exposure to the industry if starting your career.

    Cons

Its run like a grade school. I don't know how anyone stays there long term. Never grew out of the small office mentality and the level of unprofessional behavior is astounding for a company this size and no HR. Expectations constantly change you never know whether you are getting fired or promoted one day to next. Management is unwilling to evolve with the times no matter how often they 'say the right things' to get you and keep you. If you are a tenured professional or working parent this isn't the place to be. Little flexibility, and run very clock in clock out.

    Advice to Management

Instead of throwing money on lunches and competitions...pay people better. Actually do some market research. Listen to your employees, they keep your pockets lined.

I worked at NSM Insurance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun environment for people in their 20s. The company has a lot of fun events and regularly rewards employees. It is easy to find something fun to do after work with co-workers. The company has been very successful.

    Cons

Antiquated HR policies and lackluster pay. Stubbornness from the top seems to manifest itself in hr policies that are a big pain for employees and a small gain for upper management.

    Advice to Management

Bring your hr policies into the present and you will be a great company to work for. Give your employees a little slack instead of trying to manage them like they are in middle school.
