I have been working at Navigator Management Partners full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Navigator established itself 16 years ago and has continued to grow ever since. The company has expanded to focus its growth in new ERP Cloud solutions, which is exciting. They're very willing to commit training and development dollars to supporting current and incoming employees interested in developing the associated new skills, as well.

The company culture is strong - very transparent and community-oriented, whether that be the community in Columbus (company headquarters), or in a developing market/office. Employees have a lot of influence over where time and money are spent outside of client delivery.

    Cons

As with any growing organization in the midst of change, there is still ambiguity around exactly how to get where we're going. It's not a con, per se, but incoming employees need to be prepared not to have 100% of the answers and be willing to participate in the development of the answers.

    Advice to Management

Continue the theme of transparency, even when you don't know the answer. People trust and respect you and appreciate knowing they are trusted and respected in return. This is especially true when they're being asked and/or trusted to take some ownership of our continued growth!

    Pros

Great 'team' culture and transparency of information. They really live their core values and they have great benefits for consultants: paid bench time, health insurance, company deposits $ into a 401K even if you do not, business development bounuses at all levels (not just Sales Executives), $5K a year to spend on professional development of your choice. They really make an investment in their employees. I like that all the consultants have 10+ years of consulting experience, they know what they are doing and are good people. It's a regional firm so the travel is not excessive.

    Cons

They are growing in leaps and bounds and going through some growing pains. They are trying to keep up with client staffing needs and the support shared services staff is small.

    Advice to Management

Continue your open door policy and cuture of transparency. Leverage the consultants' collective knowledge to help with strategy planning. Try to keep all employees informed of business delevopment activities.

I have been working at Navigator Management Partners full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Navigator is a growing technology and management consulting firm focused on project-based consulting. Organizational change and business analysis capabilities are built into our pursuits and focuses on staffing individuals to interesting work. Focuses on exceptionally client delivery often with Senior Vice President and Account Leadership providing advisory services at no cost to the client. Consultants are trusted to deliver and leadership is available to step in to coach to ensure consultants have the support they need to deliver to our expectations of quality.

    Cons

Navigator is growing against an aggressive business strategy and vision for 2020. With that comes very natural growth pains. Some new hires have difficulty transitioning to a collaborative true consulting environment where the expectation is that work will receive quality review checks to ensure we deliver the quality we've promised to our clients.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing in exploring new and improved ideas on how to meet our aggressive growth targets.

I worked at Navigator Management Partners full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Navigator has always hired and retained outstanding consultants that are committed to clients and their communities. For consultants that are excited about building skills in Cloud ERP and organizational change management, there are countless opportunities for growth.

    Cons

It is OK to have regional focused consultants and industry or solution (e.g. Workday, Oracle, SAP, Tableau, Prosci) focused consultants. Make sure to retain and reward consultants that deliver outstanding work for local clients in addition to those focused more nationally by industry.

    Advice to Management

Understanding where a national industry focus (Higher Education, Healthcare, and State and Local Government) and where a regional, relationship based client focus each make sense. Navigator adds significant value to clients in local markets due to the value and skill delivered, and it is important to not focus solely on growth for the sake of growth nationally for all industries.

I worked at Navigator Management Partners full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The caliber and character of people is top notch, leadership works hard to share company performance information, focus on client satisfaction is real, the strategy is evolving with an intent to grow. Even though most of the employees are consultants in the field, there are plenty of regular events to bring everyone together such as recurring all-hands meetings, company outings, most of which are open to families or significant others, and training events. When you join Navigator as an FTE, you are truly part of the Navigator team, unlike many other "consulting" companies. When your client project ends, you remain with the company until the next client opportunity.

    Cons

Not necessarily a con, but they don't specialize in all technologies and capabilities, so if you have a particular career path in mind, you may or may not find it there. You will likely be satisfied and successful as long as you make sure you like to do the kind of work Navigator does, and if travel may be required, make sure you are up for that too.

    Advice to Management

Continue to hire people who fit the evolving Navigator strategy well, from a skills and interests perspective. Consider more structure around the technical and functional specializations.

    Pros

Company shares information with the employees. Great benefits and compensation package. I travel, so work/life balance is not as easy as staying in one place, but management is supportive of consultants who travel. Everyone I have met is helpful. Good opportunities for career growth and management provides opportunity and the money to learn new skills and certifications.

    Cons

Going through some growing pains, which is ok, as it shows the management is looking to move the company upward and not stay static.

    Pros

Navigator is very progressive and proactive company focused on adding value and making a difference to its employees, clients and communities. It nurtures a family environment with collaboration and respect for all individuals. It’s amazing how quickly one can get approvals or direction from leadership. The compensation and benefits are competitive and creative for working in the consulting industry where chargeability/utilization, business development, recruiting etc are all factored in. Navigator encourages individuals to stay skilled and relevant and invests heavily in funding employees for training and certifications. The recruiting and selection criteria is very competitive resulting in an experienced workforce with great experience and core values.

    Cons

As Navigator continues to grow to new regions and re-organize, individuals must stay proactive in staying current and finding their way to stay connected with their regions and the company. This is not a Con per se.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest on keeping individuals connected, engaged and empowered as the company grows.

I have been working at Navigator Management Partners full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Navigator strives to work collaboratively with and for their clients as they deliver desired results. Internally and externally, I have seen that integrity and transparency are key organizational values. They want to do the right thing for clients with client's best interests in mind.

Employees are valued--there is room for promotion and opportunity for professional growth across functions and technologies. Employees understand big picture company strategy, consultants are included in pipeline planning, and the rationale for management decisions are clearly explained. With a growing team across the country, management prioritizes open communication with employees and invests in monthly virtual meetings and quarterly face to face meetings. Professional development is supported with $ and paid time.

In addition to their commitment to clients and employees, I appreciate Navigator's commitment to their community as evidenced by awareness raising activities and tangible support of organizations/causes.

    Cons

Accelerated growth and expansion has brought growing pains and learning curves which at times makes for a bumpy ride in the short term (ie: long hours as we continue to develop internal resources and learn things only experience can teach).

    Advice to Management

Continuing being open with employees about strategy, plan, and rationale for decisions. Continue teambuilding, recognition & PD efforts.

Very focused on employee growth and happiness, allow you to drive your own career goals with training and support. Transparent with values, expectations and practices. Management is easy to access and willing to listen.

    Cons

Challenging growth curve can make work/life balance difficult.

    Advice to Management

Continue to stick to the company's core values, keep investing in the people.

    Pros

Seems like an excellent place to work for those in the "inner circle" - especially in the Ohio office.

    Cons

A bit exclusive; somewhat neglectful of those in satellite offices.
