    Pros

Fantastic work/life balance, company really cares about employee satisfaction, tons of room for growth, encouragement from management to pursue careers outside of current role, great business planning

    Cons

Very meeting heavy organization, fear of accepting projects without several layers of approval, issues with consistency across different business units.

    Advice to Management

Get all business units on to the same page and encourage projects to proceed without needing so many meetings, reviews and approvals

I worked at NiSource full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Employee Engagement
    -Family Atmosphere
    -Career Development

    Cons

    -Too much bureaucracy
-Pay doesn't increase proportionally with experience, in order to get a raise you have to leave
-to much focus on making all the states the same when they operate in completely different environments
-At the end of the day you are just a number to the company and would rather replace you with a cheaper less experienced person, then pay an employee with 5 years of experience appropriately

    Advice to Management

Look around at what the other local utilities and pay your employees according to their value.

I worked at NiSource full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I honestly can't think of any. They are a horrible company to work for, especially in the construction department in Ohio.

    Cons

If you don't let the contractors do whatever they want they will get you fired and the company will always take their side.

    Advice to Management

You should quit letting the contractors do whatever they want. It's going to come back to haunt you when someone gets killed.

I worked at NiSource full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Paycheck, though not competitive

    Cons

If you haven't been there for > 10 years, no one wants to hear what you have to say about anything. Corrupt culture where the tenured people can do no wrong and can get away with anything as they think they believe they have 100% job security. There are no checks and balances.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is have a truly anonymous employee survey. Having a survey where you have to list what group and manager you have when most groups are not bigger than 6 people is ridiculous. Figure out a better way.
