I have been working at Nickelodeon full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

working here is a blast! most people are very kind and genuine! Great parties and culture!

      Cons

Upper management makes us feel so small and like we have nothing going on with the company. Executives are just the same people in different skins. Pitching ideas is supposed to be easy but is VERY difficult to get ahold of the right people. Many upper level people are promoted only because of longevity, not because of skill, either art or managerial.

I worked at Nickelodeon full-time for more than 6 years

        Pros

        - Excellent benefits - Friendly co-workers - lots of atmospheric bonuses like coffee machines, pop machines, cafe etc. - People willing to help each other - Great networking opportunities - Manageable workload - Ability to move up internally

        Cons

        - Corporate influences from NYC poison the benefits - Viacom corporate makes rash and odd decisions for the studios - Extremely top heavy and sadly many at the executive, VP etc. level don't know what they're doing. - Frequent direct report changes/structure changes.

        Advice to Management

When you go through cleaning house, clean house from the top down. You waste millions on executive salaries for them to do little to nothing while the assistants, coordinators, and managers do everything, yet suffer these consequences. Additionally, so much of the news is exposed to the staff through Variety and other media sources. Stay honest and current with your staff. They deserve it. Merging the NYC influence...

I worked at Nickelodeon full-time for more than 2 years

        Pros

-Viacom as a company does a lot to keep their employees engaged -I really liked the people I work with -Working on fun, exciting content

        Cons

-Limited opportunities for growth -Often doing a lot more than job title suggests -Some people who have worked at Nickelodeon for years and took a lot of time to move up don't promote those underneath them since that was their personal experience -Largely full of amazing, funny inspiring people but definitely a few unmotivated, not-so-nice folks who have stuck around for a while and slowly worked their way up

        Advice to Management

Recognize the talent you have. If you don't everyone will start leaving and go to other networks where they'll get better titles, better money and better opportunities...

I worked at Nickelodeon full-time for more than 4 years

        Pros

Well known brand, and evergreen demographic that will always want more content.

        Cons

NY execs fearful of making contents that the6 don’t understand. Choosing inexpensive coproductions over the bread and butter of half hour comedy that has been the provider of orange carpet talent for the ad sales party, I mean Kids Choice awards.

        Advice to Management

Stop letting the ego of NY execs who feel threatened by the talent in Los Angeles dictate personnel matters. What happened to the whole development team that delivered success SKL?
