    I worked at Novocure full-time

    Pros

Alot of dedicated employees who care about the patients.

    Cons

Hostile environment in the dept. Lead and Manager talk behind your back
and the Lead has a potty mouth. Very unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

HR should be more involved in Employee performances and not put their head in the sand.

I have been working at Novocure full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Start up company, patient population served.

    Cons

Technology is novel, but results are no better than current treatments. Culture is non-transparent. Management is lackluster at best especially at the sales/marketing level. Interviewing process is very long and drawn out. Device company? It's really a DME. Physicians extremely hesitant with product viability. Not trusting of Senior management.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees and state of business. Don't set unrealistic goals if you have never sold this type of product before.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Novocure full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Innovative science with tremendous potential
Good people for the most part
Descent benefits for a private start up
Company has the potential to hit a home run
Growing pains are typical of a small private start up company

    Cons

Hard work is not always recognized unless you're in a management position
CEO is invisible to the people; comes across elitist and arrogant
I agree with the comment on here about executive backbiting. Most executives behave like children and are extremely immature.
Commercial officer is inappropriate and behaves like a frat boy
You are expected to work around the clock and at least 55-70 hrs per week
Very little equity sharing; no 401K match
Humility is not a strong suit at this company

    Advice to Management

CEO needs to listen to your people vs always listening to the executives. Spend time with people before you form a judgment. The company should stop rewarding immature behaviour. Hold the executive team accountable. Take time to hire the right people for the job. Too many incompetent people in decision making authority. CCO needs to start behaving like a grow up executive and stop making inappropriate comments about people. We are not in a frat house. We have no respect for you. CFO needs to be more approachable.

I have been working at Novocure full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company was founded to improve the lives of people suffering from brain cancer.

    Cons

There is no leadership. The COO, CEO, CFO, Chairman of the Board and the rest of the senior team work together. The other recommendations paint an accurate picture of the company culture. Bullying and public humiliation is the norm, there is zero work life balance and HR is so out of touch they promote the stock options as a big benefit. The stock has lost its value since the company went public. I would not recommend this company unless you like to work in an environment where no one knows what they are doing, there is no leadership and the hours are unreasonably long. The pay isn't fair market either.

    Advice to Management

You should all cash out and quit. This company needs mature experienced leaders instead of frat boys.

I have been working at Novocure full-time

    Pros

The company helps sick people which is really great. Met some nice people here from other departments. Overall most of the people in the office want to be there and are willing to help.

    Cons

As mentioned in the pros, overall good moral across departments, however BEWARE of the accounting department. If you're looking to work very long hours (the controller basically lives at his desk and is often found there at 4am) then this be the place for you. Zero work life balance, the idea of working from home is frowned upon even after hours (no such thing as after hours!) additionally most of the group is super socially awkward and unfriendly. Morale is low, also various rumors around the office that females that were hired to this team typically feel uncomfortable and leave...... and turnover speaks for itself.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the extremely high turnover on certain teams, chances are it's not the people that are leaving rather the people that are managing those teams! Lots of promise of work life balance that doesn't really exist.

"Plunging Stock Price Just Says it All"

    Star Star Star Star Star
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

This is a palliative treatment but will never cure GBM. However, as a Durable Medical Equipment it provides a measure freedom for the patient to live their life. No one wants to see anyone suffer and should the product provide a scintilla of hope for patients and families, the oncology society would benefit.

    Cons

The plunging of the stock price is a sobering one yet a worthy and accurate reflection of the competency of leadership at the helm. There is a stark difference in the espoused ethos by those that are in patient support (support centric) vs the management of the business itself. Once a 12 year startup now publicly traded (FDA approval and release of stock price simultaneously which is questionable). The environment is geographically challenging because each "C" demanded to work from their respective corner of the world, also each respective group is a clique that moves from one company to the next. Like hires like and NVCR is no different. Witnessed and been subjected to sociopathic, passive aggressive and dismissive behavior toward peers, subordinates, vendors, consultants etc. The leader sets the tone and the tone of leadership which can be verified as a pattern through other reviews is that of inexperience and incompetence. The COO is the most likable and employee centric however struggles to make decisive calls resulting in bad hires of said poor senior leaders. The cycle of dysfunction in leadership is so textbook its humorous.

    Advice to Management

Leadership will be the undoing of this business. Engineering needs to scale faster. And finally, take you feet off your desks.

    Pros

High base. Offers a product for patients that truly can help. Cost is usually not an issue for patients. Please do your research before joining. Ask about your ability as a TM to make independent decisions, to choose how to grow the business as you see fit, and the current KOL mentality towards the device in prospective territory.

    Cons

Internal: Can be summed up in one sentence recently said by my manager, "You're mine from 8-5." You will be told the Territory Manager job is a "manager" level job by upper management. It's not. This is the most micromanaged sales role I have ever been in and all the managers (Regional Business Leads) have no prior experience in this type of leadership role. The sales goals are unrealistic and you will be relentlessly hounded by your manager and above to achieve them: in person, by phone, by text, and by email. It's all about the "scrip" (Rx) here. (I never want to hear the word "scrip" again, ever.) I am not comfortable with management's rules on who can be certified to use the device. All the leadership is from pharma and worked together previously. Groupthink prevails. Very little time off offered at this company and you will still receive emails and texts that you are expected to work on when you do take time off.
External: Very little to no buy-in of the product by KOLs. Makes it very difficult to grow the business when key centers block therapy. Clinical trials are truly competition for the product.

    Advice to Management

Allow your experienced, smart TMs to do their job. You're wasting away your talent by focusing on death by process and procedure. Hire in some outside leadership from other medical sales industries to bring in new perspectives on how to sell in an FDA regulated environment.

I have been working at Novocure full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great technology, physicians are fascinated. Makes for great conversations. Base is ok but bonus structure is a pod. Territories are too small in many cases for such a narrow approved indication.

    Cons

Unstable future for employees. Over 1/2 of the territories are operating at a negative growth pattern. Sales force expanded too quickly.

    Advice to Management

Needs significant improvement. Encourage more teamwork. Acknowledge the elephant in the room clinical trials ARE OUR COMPETITION.
