I worked at Odyssey Systems part-time

    Pros

Management, as well as corporate really care about the work they do. You know you're making a difference with even the most menial of tasks. Start up feel with the size, really good environment.

    Cons

Hard to find any legitimate cons. If you have issues with working for defense, for a serious cause and make a serious difference, than the field isn't right for you.

I have been working at Odyssey Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I find the management very transparent and honest. They've done their best to take care of me.

    Cons

You need a clearance to work most of the jobs they have- so that's kind of a drag but their work is mostly with the federal government. The application process was kind of arduous for me but they are saying they are revamping this to be way easier this spring.

    Advice to Management

Keep the communication coming, make it easier for us to find jobs!

I worked at Odyssey Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great environment, good culture, empowered employees, good leadership, highly visionary, and ethical organization. Enjoyed my time there.

    Cons

Occasionally employees are asked to do to much when things get busy. Should hire a few more staff members.

    Advice to Management

Continue to do what you are doing. However, add a few more employees to ease their burden and maintain a high quality work product.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

    Zero Pros, none whatsoever.
They pay a lot of money. If you're looking to get a high salary jump and switch to another job after then go for it. My guess is you will want to leave 2 weeks after you start working there.

    Cons

    No ressources
    No management skills
    No structures
Do not work for those people specially those at Fort Meade, MD, and specially if it is RF/Wireless spectrum related.
Power struggle people with military mentality. They will treat you as a soldier with no life. They will treat as a simple contractor. They do not care about your life outside work and how that can affect your work schedule. They will monitor every step you take. They have a high turn over rate. They will most likely not hire you after your 6 months contract is over if you're a subcontractor for them.
Management don't make decision. DoD makes it for them. They have people who are managing RF spectrum related teams and they know nothing about spectrum and it takes forever to get them to understand some basic topics. As an engineer and a contractor, you have no say in meetings, they get every info from you and go make themselves look good. The management team is like the blind leading the blind. 95% of the management team DoD and contractor do not have any college degree whatsoever.
Think I'm lying? Ask around in the spectrum community. Their reputation precede themselves.
It is so bad there that they are giving a 10k bonus for each year you stay and still people leave.
    RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!

    Advice to Management

Hire people managers or team lead with management experience.
Hire managers who went to management school
Provide supplies and computers to employees
    Provide flexibility to employees
    Provide better benefits
Dont pay that much money for managers or unprofessional/unfit team leads who only pass messages from DoD personnel to Contractors.
DO NOT VIOLATE YOUR CONTRACT TERMS when it comes to contractors and Govt Civilian interaction.

    Pros

Management was good and quite engaged - unusual for government contractors. Pay was good. Benefits were very good for this sector.

    Cons

DoD's drive to cut contracting costs makes the market very competitive, and contract recompetes every five years make this a poor choice for a career (though that's not Odyssey's fault!).

    Pros

    Good group of patriots!
Reasonable requirements from front office; they usually stayed out of the way and allowed folks to get their jobs done.

    Cons

Tremendous cost pressure really impacted compensation.

    Advice to Management

    Keep communication open!

I have been working at Odyssey Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Small enough it feels like a family (only at the local level...)

    Cons

Local leadership is good, but dealing with HQ, especially HR is a quaqmire. The company has grown so much recently, it hasn't been able to keep up, and they continually slow roll the geographically separated units.

    Advice to Management

When you ask for input from the field - either use it, or don't ask. Why do I bother to provide you inputs for items to put on contract, if you don't do just that?

    Pros

Very easy company to work for. HR is very responsive if there are any issues. Competitive salary and benefits. Medium sized company is continuing to grow and get new business.

    Cons

I am on a project that supports the USAF and feel a bit disconnected from the company. I work at the client site and rarely interact with anyone from the company.

    Advice to Management

I find it difficult to build any relationships with management within the company (maybe it is because I work 100% from the client site). But there could be better communication for other opportunities within the company.
