    understaffed, so hard to get holidays
    insane amount of pressure
    unrealistic targets/expectations in regards to business
    double standards between management, optometrists and floor staff
    not payed for overtime
    dont care about customers, only profit
    breaks not a legal standards

    Advice to Management

    treat your staff better, and don't place unrealistic expectations on them, then penalise them when they don't deliver. train your managers to better interact with staff and lead by example. this is why so many people leave.

    Pros

    I have found the company to be very welcoming and supportive. The company will invest alot of time in your inital and continued training. There is always a positive outlook and atmosphere and a sense of working as one team across all clinics. I have always been shown great appreciation and praise has always been given by my superiors in regional management. I currently have great job satisfaction and i continuely feel motivated to progress for myself and within my team. I am very happy to have this opportunity to work at Optical Express and hope to stay within the organisation and to push the boundaries of being the no.1 eyecare provider.

    Pros

    Very structured training programmes with the learning and development team, whether you are new to optics or have an extensive background.
    Competitive salaries marry up perfectly with a generous bonus scheme and the ability to 'top up your salary every month.
    Very approachable higher management personnel who are always more than happy to help and answer any questions you may have.
    Great opportunities to progress within the company.
    Recommend a friend bonus payments.

    Cons

    KPI's and store targets can be difficult to meet when the testing days per week vary. Weekly targets don't fluctuate to reflect the number of days testing.
    Sales systems are a little dated but still perfectly functional.

    Advice to Management

    Staffing levels sometimes need addressed, particularly in relation to optometrists and the effect non testing days can have on a clinics yearly sales figures.

    Brilliant people, supportive senior management, great opportunities to develop skills and progress career for those with the drive to do so. Often high pressure with conflicting priorities but highly rewarding.

    Cons

    Only 30 minute lunch breaks.

    Anything more that can be done or offered to help promote a healthier work-life balance would be advantageous for existing and potential employees.

    I have been working at Optical Express full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    I love working in optics, I worked in it briefly 19 years ago and then left the field. Four years ago Optical Express gave me the opportunity to re enter a field I love. It has so far been a very rewarding company to work for. Targets are generally not unrealistic. You get loads of support not only from local branches but also from the staff up at head office. The training that is supplied is comprehensive.

    Sometimes you can feel under appreciated.

    Higher up management need to be more pro active and not re active.

    Training staff were very helpful.

    Cons

    Staff treated awfully. Customers having double booked appointments by head office who control everything. So much so they would avoid customers that had a problem with surgery and glasses. Upper management are useless.

    What's the point they don't listen anyway
