    nice coworkers

    Cons

    understaffed, so hard to get holidays
    insane amount of pressure
    unrealistic targets/expectations in regards to business
    double standards between management, optometrists and floor staff
    not payed for overtime
    dont care about customers, only profit
    breaks not a legal standards

    Advice to Management

    treat your staff better, and don't place unrealistic expectations on them, then penalise them when they don't deliver. train your managers to better interact with staff and lead by example. this is why so many people leave.

    Senior managers are very supportive. Very easy to progress within the company. Great bonus scheme.

    Diary can be challenging so need to be prepared to manage!

    Pros

    Great atmosphere, great team and loads of support when needed. A very adaptable company.

    Cons

    Late nights till 11 over the Christmas period but that's the centre rules not the company.

    Pros

    The people at Optical Express are great. It's a perfect mix of youth and experience. The company seems to have a genuine desire to be number 1 in the industry, both from a customer service and profit point of view which is good because it keeps everyone motivated. The head office in Glasgow is a great place to work, beautiful and modern building with great accessibility and distance from public transport. The biggest pro for me personally is that there doesn't appear to be a culture of management snobbery - by which I mean the managers and higher-ups all talk to you like a human being and are happy to get involved in the office banter and fun. I've worked in companies previously where you're looked down on from management. Salary is pretty good.

    Cons

    One of the biggest selling points that we advertise is our "state of the art" clinics and surgeries, but the technology that the office staff use is extremely outdated and not fit for purpose. The only other issue I have is the long working week and short break (40 hours and only 30 mins lunch break per day) which takes it's toll on personal life.

    Advice to Management

    Please try to find a better work life balance for staff, and invest in some updated computing equipment. Especially for departments with a higher requirement - like IT, Digital and Marketing.

    Pros

    I’m into my 3rd week with the business and the induction process is second to none. Having no optics background is not an issue as a comprehensive training programme is in place which consists of classroom learning as well as hands on in store. Fantastic communication from day 1 with a solid plan in place to set me up for success in my job role. Also have a network of support should the need arise.

    Cons

    Absolutely no cons. The business is well set up with a fantastic network of support if needed .. .. ..

    Advice to Management

    Continue with what you are doing - Great Job!!!!

    Pros

    Work around your homelife,great continued support from colleagues including Senior Managers and Regional Manager,the latter in such a short space of time has made changes which has made things easier and I'm proud to be part of the team. One of the main reasons I joined was to progress and I am excited by what the future holds with this company. Loads of opportunities to do just that.We also have a superb training programme,best I have had.

    Cons

    You may cover other stores which may not suit some but I enjoy going out and providing support to my colleagues.

    Advice to Management

    Keep going down the road we are on as it will be a great journey.

    Pros

    Great training programs and fantastic opportunities for career progression. It is a company that has amazing vision and values and ensures to treat all staff with respect. The regional managers and directors are supportive in mine and my teams development. We are well incentivised and rewarded for success. It’s a very happy rewarding place to work and I'd highly recommend it.

    Never had a bad experience and thoroughly enjoying my time with them.

    - job satisfaction; making a real difference to patients’ quality of life

    - lots of training

    - amazing colleagues who make the job fun and very supportive

    - Lots of possible travel which could be a con for some people; however travel and accommodation is always paid when necessary.

    - Lots of pressure which I do not mind at all but could be a con for some people.
