    Pros

The Dayton office was a fantastic place to work prior to the buyout. Operations Manager was excellent with team building and allowing all team members to make decisions and work independently.

    Cons

The corporate office seemed to be a bit out of touch with daily operations

  3. "Interesting Work, Great Team"

    Pros

Interesting and great group of employees doing extremely important work. Flexible scheduling and they even have maternity leave and are new mother friendly.

    Cons

Constant revolving door. They would hire people, train them (time intensive) and then lay them off. Then more would get sick of the uncertainty and resign.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees. They are your most precious asset. Stop the attitude that you can replace one excellent analyst with 2 low paid technicians.

I worked at Orchid Cellmark full-time

    Pros

There is some room for improvement but only if you get lucky. The people are quite nice and it can be a fun environment.

    Cons

The hours are long and strict, plus overtime is expected. It is hard to advance up. The work is incredibly boring and you're expected to stare at a blank screen if there's nothing to do. Weird attitude.

    Pros

Staff and management friendly, location is proffessional and there is a good pension scheme

    Cons

Poor pay, hard to move up in the role. Your training can be paused at any time, slowing down your progression.

I worked at Orchid Cellmark full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good place to start a career and gain experience in a demanding environment. Job satisfaction in knowing that you are making a difference.

    Cons

There is no progression. Once you reach a certain level, it just becomes stifling and stagnant. Some managers have no idea how to develop you professionally. Some managers are also so poor with their micromanagement and unprofessional behaviour. The industry serves a great purpose to our society but there is no money in it and as a result, there simply isn't the money to reinvest so there is a lack of innovation and drive for change as it becomes too costly. Could be a great company but needs to look at it's management team.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of dead wood and listen to feedback from exit interviews.

I worked at Orchid Cellmark full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

none - I guess it was close to home

    Cons

Bad service to customers and treat staff badly. They get their results wrong a lot of the time and then cover up their mistakes.

    Advice to Management

    get a grip

I have been working at Orchid Cellmark full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Generally a nice bunch of similar minded and similar age people; pizza lunches, christmas and summer parties at the company's expense

    Cons

Little oppurtunity to progress within departments, reluctant to recruit internally preventing employees from apllying for jobs in other departments, no apparent opportunity to provide feedback about senior members of staff

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

The employees are very nice to work with. Very lean back environment.

    Cons

There's is absolutely no growth or moving up in this company. The corporate controller high tailed, management is firing people left and right. I would advise anyone who is getting a job there, don't take it. You do not gte raises. Look at the companies financial statements, no profit ever. Just a matter of time before they go bankkrupt. The CEO and upper managment have no sense of what they are doing, they make decision just to make themselves look good in front of board of directors.

    Advice to Management

None because they don't listen. It's about who your know in there.
