Pros

You can learn a lot about what not to do when managing people if you work here.

Cons

During my brief time working here I saw so many People of Color and LGBTQ+ folks get fired here. Close to two dozen people. For a small company that's a lot of people. It felt like every other week someone was getting fired for not meeting unreachable demands set by the wannabe tech bros that own this company. They talk about being diverse and act like they want to give overlooked deserving people opportunities, and uplift them. Truth is they just want to employ people who they can overwork and underpay. They either give people crazy goals or no direction (there was no inbetween). If you don't meet these goals or figure out how to do something that was not clearly outlined, they will fire you. No coaching, no improvement plan, just fire you...that is if you are POC or LGBTQ+. Unless you are a heterosexual of European decent, or if you are on the underpaid outsourced team, you should expect to walk on eggshells at this company. As an ally, this behavior shook me to my core. I saw so many good people get undervalued, underpaid, overworked and then thrown out when Outco was done with them. This company makes a bunch of money from their career program, check out the prices on their website. Yet they never have enough money to pay people fairly or hire enough people so that everyone isn't over worked. They promise all the full timers big pay raises, and equity packages once certain company goals are met, but this'll never happen and it's just a dangling carrot. The goals change every month. If you value your mental health, work anywhere else, but this company. I'm begging you. Unless they are willing to pay for your therapist! But...they won't.

Pros

Very diverse and passionate group of people

Cons

Outco has high turnover at every level, including (or especially) c-suite. Things are constantly evolving, and processes are vague or non-existent. If you decide to work here, be ready to navigate through ambiguity, rise through the ranks quickly, change roles at the drop of a dime, and leave within a few months.

Pros

Nothing, there is no pro in working for a terrible company

Cons

Company's mission is a sham. All they do is scam people and take money from them. Ask any of the enrolled student (current as well as past) and they all would say Outco is nothing but a sham. They don't teach anything, just give homeworks to solve LeetCode questions which the student would anyway do.

Our mission is to help software engineers land the best jobs they can. To that end, it seems we've done quite well. Just take a look at our reviews on Yelp, 4.5/5 stars and 122+ reviews: https://www.yelp.com/biz/outco-san-francisco-6?sort_by=date_desc Considering that we 100% guarantee a successful outcome, and 3/4 of our revenue is dependent upon our engineers getting an offer they accept, if any of the above were true we'd have gone out of business years ago. I can't imagine you actually worked here, because if you did you would know we almost never use Leetcode aside from a very rare option for practicing certain problems in our program. Sorry that you had a problem that conflicts with thousands of others' experience, if there's anything we can do, you should know how to reach us.
