I have been working at PARTech full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

PAR is a great place to work. I've been here almost five years and I have to say the best thing about PAR is the people. They have become like family to me and I've built many great friendships in my time here. Everyone is always willing to help you out.

    Cons

The company is going through a big transition right now, from a corporate culture standpoint and from a systems standpoint. There is still much to be improved upon, but PAR knows that and is actively trying to improve - management trainings, culture committees, improved communications and transparency are just some of the ways PAR is trying to tackle it's areas for improvement.

    Advice to Management

Keep learning, keep training, and keep an open mind!

    Pros

Employees care about their work product. They are dedicated and work hard. Customers matter and employees care about keeping up with the latest industry standards.

    Cons

Management does not rely on employee ideas and experience. Management continues to bring in bigger contracts but no additional employees to do the work. Pay could be better.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees

    Cons

Long Hours, Doesn't Pay well for the Work expected of you and the time away from your Families, Coverage time from 6:00 am till Midnight. No Personal Life.

    Advice to Management

Lessen the On call coverage time, increase pay to meet work performance not going rate of that area and only have it so your on call 1 weekend a month not sometimes 3 weekends a month.

    Pros

PAR making lots of changes for the better. There is a new ERP Implementation, a Corporate Values Refresh, and a lot of communication sent via email and through newsletters and company meetings. They also allow for a casual dress code now and we have the Balanced Chef in the cafeteria. The people who work here are fun and like to get stuff done while enjoying themselves!

    Cons

In the middle of so many changes, it can be a little overwhelming and confusing at times.

I have been working at PARTech full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Camraderie among team mates, time off, decent benefits, Culture Committee events

    Cons

Life/Work Balance nonexistent, loads of extra duties/mission creep, promotions are senseless, psychotic scheduling, few raises or bonuses, no overtime potential in spite of the relentless call volume, work falls to people with a responsible mindset while others simply coast, fear of New Hartford's latest maniacal edicts loom over you like Death itself, obsolete support software and ill-designed processes make simple tasks into nightmarish hell grinds, furious customers that take their frustration on the inefficient, byzantine processes out on CSRs and Techs. You will be forced to rip your own heart out and hand it to irate, half-literate yokels who will hurl it to the concrete and gleefully grind it into a bloody paste over ludicrously unimportant report issues and your team members - and management - will hurl you under the bus to gain enough breathing room to survive themselves... nothing personal though. Abandon ye all hope and defer the call.

    Advice to Management

With a few minor changes this could become an ideal job! New Hartford would probably rather nuke the Helpdesk from orbit than try any of these humble suggestions , but I'm on my way out so what the Hell -

    - Cut the psycho scheduling stuff out. Try new shift ideas like "4-10s" and offer more at-home options, the commute is murder.
    - Death to Clarify! Get better support software, and for God Sake simplify the damned procedures! A PR should NOT take factoring in the phases of the moon and guessing what PR type the Parts Department doesn't feel like processing today
    - Make a real effort to retain your loyal employees, or one way or another you won't HAVE any loyal employees left. Raises anyone?

    Pros

PAR is in an exciting stage of transformation - internally and externally. We are investing in new technologies, products and internal tools to lead the POS industry. Likewise, there is an internal drive to change/improve employee engagement and involvement to create a great employee experience. The passion of the leadership team is infectious!

    Cons

The only con at PAR are people that are not on board with changing for the better. People are resistant to change and need to decide if this bus is for them. If so hop on, if not, then get off at the next stop!

    Advice to Management

Continue your active involvement in employee engagement and development.
