I have been working at Palamida full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This is a fantastic company to work for. The people are personable and always eager to help. There is a lot of trust placed in individual employees to do their work as they see fit. There are also many different ways to contribute to the company's success. Finally, the company is committed to each individual employee flourishing in their role.

    Cons

There aren't many team-building activities and we don't hear enough updates on the company's performance during a particular period of time.

    Advice to Management

To check in more frequently with employees to see if they need guidance to optimize their performance and make bigger contributions to the company's success.

I have been working at Palamida full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere and coworkers. Very collaborative. Very family-friendly with flexible job schedules. Great place for someone who is extremely self motivated. The company is definitely growing and could go really far in the future.

    Cons

Management is not always on the same page which can lead to some confusion, but I would chop that up to standard growing-pains.

    Advice to Management

A little more guidance in the beginning would go a long way. Establish more protocols to make sure everyone has a clear vision of what is expected of them.

I have been working at Palamida full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Surrounded by wonderful people and plenty of opportunities to learn and grow with respect, trust and flexibility.

    Cons

In a growing company, rapidly growing responsibilities can become a challenge to learn to manage.

    Advice to Management

Hope we are able to get more people to join the family!

    Pros

Really good people who care about the work and customers. If I had to describe the environment here in one word, I would say "INTEGRITY". Awesome San Francisco location, interesting and growing field and fair pay. Plenty of opportunity for personal and career growth...it's pretty common and part of the culture for people to make both vertical and lateral moves within the company as well as take on independent projects that they are interested in.

    Cons

Lack of day-to-day management - good for those who prefer to be self managed, not so good for those who want more guidance and hand holding.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people! Hire good people! Particularly on the engineering side.

I have been working at Palamida full-time

    Pros

Great attention to work/life balance, tolerant towards working remotely/telecommuting. Small office lets you get things done very quickly (very easy to go to the person who knows the answer to your problem). Company is very encouraging of proactive employees who have their own independent ideas for how to improve things. Company is growing in a newly-hot space and business is good. Great location near Montgomery BART.

    Cons

Personal growth can feel a little stunted due to the small size of the company. Can get hectic at times - you might be doing 20 things but only getting paid for one. Management feels sales-oriented and overpromises to potentials, engineers are too few and overloaded. Benefits so-so, no 401k matching and must use PTO for sick days.

    Advice to Management

Increase frequency of performance reviews. Keep your employees motivated. Get more engineers. Be more inclusive by debriefing everyone once a month about what's going on with the company across departments.

    Pros

There were some very talented engineers when I worked there. They liked to share knowledge and help each other. It has good atmosphere inside Engineering department.

    Cons

Funding was tight. Software was not easy to sell - long sale cycle and not making much money. Office environment was not very nice.

    Advice to Management

Good job to have this company survive during the economy downturn. Learn your lessons from the past and keep moving forward.

I have been working at Palamida full-time

    Pros

Really great management and people - all working together with a strong passion and self-driven approach. Customers are very happy and loyal.

    Cons

the market is growing fast which can challenge the typical resource constrain of any startup.
