I worked at Partners in Performance full-time

    Pros

    1) Phenomenal colleagues, both in terms of professional caliber and personalities
    2) Hands-on, operational work that creates real value for clients
    3) Fast growth in select regions (Australia, Asia) driven by a visionary leader
    4) High pay relative to market (no benefits, however)

    Cons

    1) North (and to some extent South) America is a sinking ship, with ~30% of staff slashed in last 6-12 months due to weak sales pipeline and lots of "dead weight" in the most senior ranks.
    2) Horrendous, unpredictable travel schedule to middle-of-nowhere locations (including international). No such thing as work-life balance.

    Advice to Management

    1) Fire top management in underperforming regions and replace with individuals who have demonstrated sales leadership in a consulting setting
    2) Create some boundaries around travel (e.g., 21 days straight followed by 7 days off is NOT acceptable)

I have been working at Partners in Performance full-time

    Pros

Work with intelligent, well-rounded individuals who are passionate about helping clients. Because PIP has implementation model, you have the opportunity to see the difference you are making at the client site. People are very nice and down to earth, always willing to help and give you feedback.

    Cons

You are required to travel, but so is every other consulting company.
Bench time (time not staffed on an engagement) is unknown, but allows you the opportunity to recharge your batteries and spend quality time at home.

    Advice to Management

Continue hiring energetic, passionate employees with various backgrounds.

I have been working at Partners in Performance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Consultants are top notch and have interesting backgrounds (e.g. traveled around the world, worked across cultures, easy going, etc.)
    - Firm is still small in North America, but growing rapidly, and new consultants can shape development almost immediately after joining
    - Live anywhere you want
    - Immediate results: PIPers can directly see the impact of their work by the time an engagement is finished

    Cons

    - Fair bit of travel, but difficult to avoid if you're a management consultant

    Pros

I like that PIP is a results-oriented consulting firm. The majority of the client work is on the implementation side, so I feel like I'm making a measurable difference in the organization and their employees.

    Cons

So far, nothing comes to mind.

    Pros

Very down-to-earth culture (Australia + Mining = no pretense)
Similar horsepower to McKinsey but very different politically.
Make your clients happy, and you get promoted.

    Cons

    Travel can be brutal
Work-life balance issues same as McKinsey, BCG, etc.

    Cons

Work in very difficult, remote, conditions, where the mines are.
    Extensive travel involved.
Company tight in terms of money and cost reimbursement

    Advice to Management

Learn from what other major management consulting firms do, in terms of how they treat employees, travel schedule, etc.

I have been working at Partners in Performance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Strong business model / positioning in the marketplace
    - No offices = live anywhere you like
    - Put money where your mouth is (read: many pay-for-results engagements)
    - Super-smart but grounded colleagues (ex-McKinsey/BCG, without the attitude)
    - Very fast growth in all regions (translates into promotions)
    - Little to no politics; laidback culture
    - Significantly above-market compensation

    Cons

    - Grueling travel - 4 nights/5 days a week is not uncommon
    - Limited benefits package in the US (but comp. package makes up for it)

    Advice to Management

    - Let employees contribute to 401K in Year 1
    - Move to consistent 3 or 4-day travel schedule
