I have been working at Pattern Energy Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good pay and benefits
    Friendly colleagues

    Cons

Terrible work/life balance. Expect 12 hour work days and work on the weekends. Your manager may joke “go home” but then you see your whole department on skype on Saturday’s / Sunday’s...

If you like spending 90% of your free time working, this is for you. If not, avoid this company.

    Advice to Management

Balance the work load or continue losing good employees

I worked at Pattern Energy Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Location, benefits, free fruit and soda

    Cons

Everyone felt miserable. No real onboarding, training, instead micromanaging, scapegoating etc. No company culture. Decisions changed daily. No work life balance for some teams. Employees who had been there before Pattern distinguish themselves from new employees, and are talking down to them. Evaluations are very primitive, no development plan or talent pool conversations.

    Advice to Management

Even when they're well paid, receive recognition and have opportunities to learn and grow, people will leave if they don't like their supervisor.

I have been working at Pattern Energy Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Casual attire (yes, that means jeans!)
-Fruit, unlimited beverages, monthly happy hours and monthly birthday lunches
-Comprehensive and very affordable health coverage
-401(k) employer contribution (you don't even have to contribute, yet Pattern contributes a good amount into your 401(k))
    -Friendly and hardworking colleagues
-Close to the Embarcadero bart station
-Biggest pro? Working for a company that is making a huge, positive impact on the planet.

    Cons

Since the company is growing so rapidly, there's been some growing pains, but luckily management is very transparent, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

    Pros

Company Mission statements includes "Transitioning the World to Renewable Energy". That meshes very well with my philosophy.
Executive leadership is employee-centric. They really do care for the happiness and well-being of the employees.
Great effort being made to facilitate employees feeling motivated, connected and engaged.
Good progress being made on streamlining and improving systems and processes.
    Management listens to employees.
Office environment is very pleasant. The location cannot be beat.
    Good compensation and benefits.
    Growing company so dynamic environment.

    Cons

Heavy workloads: employee resources sometimes stretched too thin.
Young company so frequently shifting focus and priorities: Work Flows and Procedures sometimes fluid as a result.
Very heavy focus on SOX and Audits. Need to focus more on producing renewable electricity!

    Advice to Management

Keep charting the current course. As the company continues to grow the current initiatives on business and process improvement will bear good results.

    Pros

    Good pay and great benefits
    Office location

    Cons

Horrible work/life balance unless you are a certain select few that pick and choose their schedules while piling ALL of their workload on one person
    Management is a disgrace.
No training. Sink or swim mentality.
Bullying and name calling was an everyday challenge
    No communication
Manager never had time for questions except they always seemed to have plenty of time for casual chit chat with other “long term” employees
    Zero guidance
    Forms are outdated
Procedures are extremely redundant and time consuming
... and the list is never ending.

    Advice to Management

Seriously take a look at what’s really going on. Management needs serious improvement.

I have been working at Pattern Energy Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Dedicated employees
Close to BART and Ferry Building
    Ergonomic workstations
    Annual bonus

    Cons

No work/life balance for most of the employees
Managers with poor people skills and not held accountable for bad behavior
EMT unable to recognize work/life balance is not improving

    Advice to Management

Take a hard look at how to improve work/life balance and replacing managers who don't treat their staff with respect. People don't leave a company, they leave poor management.
