I have been working at Perfumania Holdings full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I always smell good, I loved my co workers, and I loved satisfying customers. I was able to work on my Spanish speaking skills, and work learn more about the paper work side of jobs.

    Cons

Because perfume is more of a luxury than a need, sometime it is really slow, and making sure everything constantly looks good can be trying at times.

Hourly pay is decent if your a student
Roughly 15 hours a week for sales associate
    Key holder 15 to 20 a week

    Cons

Unless its the holidays then hours for the week sucks
First manager was cool , the new one is greedy and takes all the sales and hours.

    Advice to Management

Check on how many hour managers are getting compared to the workers

This job was very fast paced and fun. Great customers as well.

I worked at Perfumania Holdings (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Genuinely loved my job. Could make good money in commission if you were good at your job.

    Cons

Company on the decline. Constantly removing or dexreasing spiffs, commission, bonuses to pay out less to staff.

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanagaing, stop wastkng money on cheap, pointless, signage.

I worked at Perfumania Holdings part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The staff that you'll work with day to day in the store are usually phenomenal. Because the stores are usually small, you get a chance to learn everyone and it really does start to feel like a family. Paid hourly plus commission.

    Cons

Obviously when you work retail you expect that the hours are going to be inconsistent. Perfumania takes that a step further. Employees consistently work 8-12 hour days with no meal break. Executives outside the store don't give a heck about what's happening at store level. Pay is inconsistent and turnover is high. No room for growth.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees the same amount for the same work. Focus on retaining staff at a store level and don't play favorites. Follow state compliance for meal breaks.

I have been working at Perfumania Holdings full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This company loves to celebrate the individual. I get to work with an amazing team, and my boss trusts, supports, and believes in me. They lost two employees in the horrible night club massacre. They donated $25,000 so the families could have a proper funeral for them.

    Cons

corporate to changes promotions quickly if they feel it is doing poorly. a lot of these promotional changes are happening on holidays.

    Advice to Management

try promotions for shorter periods of time so we don't lie to customers when we tell them how long a promotion will be.

    Pros

Commission helps a lot, small teams which give employees more hours, flexible hours, ability to grow and learn more than in other retail jobs

    Cons

They cut down on spiffs and commission a lot, goals are hard to achieve/unrealistic, takes a while for newer fragrances to reach us which impacts amount of sales
