Flexibility, creativity, and autonomy!
Pros
No micro-management. Determined type A personalities need not apply!!! This job has little to any structure. Employees are able to set their own schedules, take off when they need to do something, decide when and how much vacation or paid time off that you need. You really make this job into what you want it to be! Find something you like, and GO for it! The harder you work the more money you can make. You get out of the job what you put into it! Must be an independent thinker, creative, and not afraid to jump in and make your own decisions. Your career path is open, and have full control in steering it in any direction you choose. The goal is to make money for the company and yourself!
Cons
With the downturn in the economy, no matter what you are coming up with new products, training, etc... there are times when new business is slow, and this affects your paycheck. When I started I had came from an environment of total nazi structure, and it was an adjustment just to see everyone come/go or not come/go ...do whatever they wanted and whenever they wanted...and adjusting to not having a schedule. The office is very small, and other than creating your own job description there is not a way to formally advance like you can in a Corporate office.
