Good for a while but lost their way

Pros

Fun people. Some good beer in the fridge. Friday Breakfasts. Good location in Fort Point of Boston.

Cons

No opportunity for career growth. A culture where voicing your opinion could lead to your termination. A hard to use crappy platform that sales can't really sell. Constant turnover was consistent throughout my years there. The platform is ten years old, built by basically one man who can't get out his own way to advance the product. Sales consistently missing targets and upper management preaches how well things are going. Three CEOs in the last two years says it all. Probably not the best place to work if you're looking for satisfaction or a place to grow your career.

Pros

The people are wonderful, you’ll make some great friends here. A 5 minutes walk from South Station is great for commuting in, and Friday breakfast is nice. It’s a nice stepping stone job, but it won’t be a career. The new CEO Vance seems to know what he’s doing to a point, but it is still way too early to tell.

Cons

No one actually believes in the product and it shows. Negativity runs rampant here, and everyone feeds on it, breeding only more negativity. It wears on you. The culture could be improved, and benefits could be better. Adding another person in HR with experience could help the company tremendously. Small company means it turns a bit into high school, and when drama happens everyone knows about it. There are also obvious cliques as well, which is unfortunate. Some of these “positive” reviews were done because HR asked for employees to leave good reviews so take everything with a grain of salt. Not exactly the best way to get Glassdoor reviews but what can you do.

Unfulfilling and unchallenging

Pros

Peer teammates can be really supportive and encouraging. There's a lot of people here from various different backgrounds, so you can definitely learn from a lot of different people. Location is right on Summer St, with access to public transportations and lots of great lunch options. Gym in the building.

Cons

For a 50-something person company, BL acts like it's a huge company. Things are slow when it comes to process changes, product improvements, and acting on feedback. Total lack of constructive feedback and/or career coaching. Not a lot of people have growth paths here, and management mostly gives you blanket non-answers. Managers aren't necessarily equipped to advocate for their teams. They need to be trained more so that they can manage without micromanaging. There's a lot of weight held with few clients, so there's always fires that need to be put out if a client is upset. No work from home policy at all.
