I worked at Prospect Capital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked here for a year and it was a fantastic learning opportunity for myself. I was able to learn so much about the industry and the company.

There are many staff perks such as a ski trip, fully stocked fridge, happy hours and staff social.

What I thought was great, was the ability for junior staff to work closely with senior staff. This was great as it allowed me to build confidence working with more senior staff and provided a great form of mentoring.

I was lucky to work within a team, that was extremely supportive and provided constructive feedback that allowed me to understand my successes and shortcomings and work better in the work place

    Cons

They tend to have long conference calls which can seem time consuming also some outdated systems

    Pros

    Good to get SEC Exposure

    Cons

The culture at the firm needs a lot of improvement. All levels are stressed out. There are inefficient processes in place that are carried over from ages and no one was dare enough to point it out. The management is not transparent about their visions at all. They expect employees to sacrifice their personal time for work. I'd not recommend this firm to anyone as the culture is just toxic, too many politics. The management is not good at giving feedbacks nor receiving feedbacks.

I worked at Prospect Capital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Only work here if you have no other options.

    Cons

Non-stop micromanaging, unprofessional, out of touch senior management who don't honor their agreements. Equipment is old, working conditions for mid-level and lower mangement are crowded, and run down.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to treat your employees like professionals instead of children who need constant micromanaging. Keep your word regarding hiring agreements and get rid of toxic outdated policies like 360 reviews.

I worked at Prospect Capital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good people at the mid to junior levels who manage to maintain a good camaraderie while being forced to live in the trenches together. This helps to ease the pain of the overall culture which is set at the top.

    Cons

Terrible senior management who can't be trusted. Very hypocritical and narcissistic. Reward "loyalty" by forcing coworkers to rat out one another. Overall toxic environment.

I worked at Prospect Capital full-time

    Pros

Prospect is a growing firm that's maintained its family-run feel. Employees are part of something special - surrounded by driven, intelligent, forward-thinking colleagues and an accomplished leadership that never tires of looking ahead. Employees are well-compensated and welcomed into the Prospect family; everyone is encouraged to attend firm-wide annual events. The views from the office are the best in New York City.

    Cons

Work/life balance varies depending on your role. Thrice-weekly firm-wide conference calls are often lengthy!
