I have been working at Protect Controls full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Bonus based on company and employee performance usually quarterly.

Get off work early every Friday I have really gotten use to it let me tell you.

The owning family seems to genuinely care about their employees. I have literally seen a senior manager lend cash out of their own wallet to a lower level but long time employee because they needed it. It was awesome and to be honest I don't know if I'd do the same thing if I was in the same position. I'd be like talk to HR about an advance on your check or go get a pay day loan. Not this senior manager just pulled a couple of hundreds out of their wallet and just handed it to him with a simple verbal agreement he'd pay him back.

    Cons

It's a family owned business so there are favorites and politics no way to get around it at any family owned company even a great one like this one.

    Advice to Management

Be consistent with your employees. If your employees know they will be rewarded for a certain behavior then they will do it all the time. Even more important be consistent with your response to undesirable behavior. That consistency will build confidence and trust in management.

    Pros

There aren't any pros for this review, other than the opportunity to work here.

    Cons

Too much favoritism, bad pay, all levels of management and supervision are corrupt. This place operates like a sweatshop. We get treated like shop trash. They are always threatening our employment with nonsense. They are always finding reasons to fire people or accuse of nonsense.

    Advice to Management

They need to make better choices on who they appoint to run the shop departments and who lead their teams.

"10 hrs worth of work to do
If done right the first time can go home when completed! After spot checked.
Not done right must be completed on their own time -it has to be fixed. I... know labor laws!!!
    checked again...
    Go home when finished!
Supervisors should always work harder than there workers.

    Pros

Co workers are like family, good work expeiriance

    Cons

Hones honestly the list is too large but I will list a couple of things I was called a peon and regularly heard supervisors call uh shop trash there is little to no room in moving up in the company unless your last name is Davis or you get a injury then you'll be promoted and given a pay raise because they can't afford any more OSHA complaints floor supervisors are more than rude and have absolutely no respect towards the workers just recently they had an electrical accident where a man was literally smoking on the ground with his fingers melting off and no one would help but two supervisors pulled out their phones took pictures of him and walked away soon after the man was transported away in the ambulance they walked around the shop showing everybody the pictures completely degrading the man this place being Littles you and is a horrible environment to work please save yourself the trouble and stress just walk away and do not work here!!! This place doesnt even deserve 1 star

    Advice to Management

Sell this company to someone that actually cares about the working class citizens

I worked at Protect Controls full-time

    Pros

Good co-workers, Really enjoyed the people I worked with. Spent most of the day talking about drama of this family owned business.

    Cons

Management {the ones in the family} very condescending talked to you as if they you were less than and would let you know Papa was the owner. Little chance for advancement unless you were a prospective future family member

I worked at Protect Controls full-time

    Pros

My co-workers were some of the best people to work with in the warehouse. Team work was sometimes a little hard. If you asked for help, most of the time you got it.

    Cons

Family owned company. I didn't feel like there was room to move into a better position.

    Advice to Management

Work more as a team instead of trying to throw people under the bus.

I have been working at Protect Controls full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some very nice people to work with. Very rewarding to see the finished product that you have handled from start to finish is a great accomplishment.

    Cons

No room for long term advancement. Intercompany disorganization. Each department plays the blame game instead of taking responsibility for their actions that may have caused wrong items to be ordered or installed incorrectly into our buildings.

    Advice to Management

In order for the company to grow the way it needs to all of the people (Veteran Employees) that are not open to change and growth need to go.
