Awful work environment

Pros

The science leadership is great and my peers were all wonderful people. The BSC gym membership was a perk. A ton of great snacks in the kitchen...you never go hungry there. The cold brew coffee keg was great.

Cons

Operates like a startup that has no processes or idea of what they are doing - surprising considering they've been around for almost 20 years. Very high turnover...there was always someone leaving. Morale is low and it was a tense and stressful environment. Most employees burn out after 1-2 years. This is not a 9-5...you are expected to work late here. If you are considering working here then it would be in your best interest to reach out to former employees to ask what their experience was.

Scientific managements are not here for science.

Pros

Innovative culture of research and ambition with a relatively flexible schedule

Cons

Business side and science side extremely isolated and research teams are even very isolated from one another. Business team seems to have fun and has a relatively collaborative environment and is well rewarded while the exact opposite is true for the research team. Lots of in-fighting and lack of guidance on the science side with a very stressful and uncollaborative environment. Scientists are underpaid which is why I left. Management doesn't seem to value any individuals (no outreach/support of any form).
