I worked at Right Step full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

TRS is a great place to work if you are needing experience in Substance Abuse Counseling whether you have started training/schooling yet or not.

    Cons

Pay and benefits package is not competitive in the DFW market. Corporate is extremely money motivated, yet not willing to pay employees well.

    Advice to Management

Attn Elements: You can obviously pay your high up corporate employees well. Please pay the ground level employees well too!

I worked at Right Step as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people/team I work with are amazing. I love my team! The women and men here get the help that can last a lifetime!

    Cons

The pay is not competitive with the local market for my credentials. I was promised a raise and after 90 days was told that I was at max pay for my credentials when a large number of my friends are making $5K to $15K more a year with my same credentials.

    Advice to Management

Don't spend all you money hiring new Executives and then do pay-cuts and lay-offs. If you want people to stay, pay them what they are worth.

    Pros

Clients. Even through all the hard days, it's extremely rewarding to get a call from a former client or see them at a local meeting, and hear about how well they're doing. It's an honor to play a small part in that.

    Cons

The pay is incredibly (almost insultingly) low, especially for the amount of work put in. There aren't any paid holidays. Sometimes it feels like there is little to none support from management. They are quick to blame and you'll spend most of your time walking on eggshells. High turn around. Very little opportunity for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Support your RA's and make sure they know you have their back, or they'll continue to leave. When most days consist of getting cussed out by at least one client, it would be nice to know we were supported by someone.

I have been working at Right Step full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible, good atmosphere, free meals, management is fair to its employees

    Cons

    Pretty Poor pay..low wage increase

    Advice to Management

Pay better so your employees feel you really value them. Can't order figure out why employers most everywhere can't figure this out. They should look at the sas model and quit using excuse its not in budget when the top folks make all the money. This is why america is dying a quick death...nobody will listen to this anyway do to the fact it will take a major implosion in economy which should happen sooner rather than later do to our entitlement society.
