    Pros

Great Product. Great CEO, with the ability to turn the company around.

    Cons

It takes too long to fix things. The company is trying to fix things, but they are not fixing the things that are right in front of them. For a great software solution, probably the best in the industry, but they present it in the worst possible way. Clients have no idea why they should be paying 30% more.

    Advice to Management

Sit in on the demo's and ask yourself if you would spend 30% more, after you see this presentation.

    Pros

    - Free snacks
    - Downtown location
    - Work/life balance

    Cons

Management is incompetent and only come into the office a few times a week, but tell employees they aren't working enough. It's clear the CEO just hired old coworkers/friends so they can collect a paycheck.

Middle management is filled with people who have never managed teams before or have no training to do so. Get ready to be micromanaged and openly criticized. Environment is known to be a boys' club so unconscious biases towards women do happen.

Zero career growth. Don't expect to work hard and be rewarded for it. Promotions will only be given to favorites. Compensation is also below market average.

If you have any problems with this, don't bother going to HR. Your complaints will be negated and you will be blamed for something, one way or another. They have openly made disparaging remarks about Americans in more than one occasion.

    Advice to Management

Turnover is extremely high, start taking care of your employees. Take a look at mid-level management, most of them would never qualify to be a manager at any other company.

I worked at SLI Systems full-time

    Pros

none at present- was once a great company with values and vision

    Cons

Management at top are all remote, make guest appearances in office 3 days a week, spouse in office frequently, making smoothies, how can a company be taken seriously when the top executives are part timers? Yet they judge, and have not fixed the model, which is very broken. If you speak up, you will pay the price. Heartbreaking, as some good people - a once decent company is now doomed by their own ignorance.

    Advice to Management

Fewer sales reps, lower price point, stronger approach, and stop denying the obvious when a sale is lost

I have been working at SLI Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Strong customer success focus, well-known brand in the e-commerce technology space, fosters innovation, experienced marketing team, smart product team. Employees are valued and work culture is strong. Everyone is exceedingly nice to work with. Global culture that encourages diversity.

    Cons

Some teams have suffered from high turnover because of past management issues and a lot of change in 2014 and 2015. Most of those of us who have stayed love the work, technology and company culture, and we see the changes moving in a positive direction. But it's not the right fit for someone who's just looking at the monetary payoff, and it's not for someone who expects change just to happen without jumping in and finding ways to be part of it.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be innovative in products. Make data-driven decisions. Be aggressive in market positioning. Get better sales training in place. Listen carefully to employees' ideas -- not only in surveys. Make it easier to reward those across the organization (not just in sales) who are driving positive change and results.

I worked at SLI Systems full-time

    Pros

The people are fantastic. The New Zealand culture is very family oriented and provides many opportunities for life/work balance. Awesome market with lots of opportunity. The product is easy to use and most customers are fanatical about the value SLI delivers... however...

    Cons

The space is becoming crowded and "search" is quickly becoming a commodity. The lack of extra cash to invest in innovation and expansion is sure to weigh heavy on the future of SLI. I see further issues with retaining employees, mostly due to their lack of cash and inability to pay market rates for good people.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in the customer facing employees and customer facing initiatives. Stop investing in pet projects for the outgoing CEO. Rethink the distribution of people/resource and get out of Japan (you can't afford it).
