August 13th

Pros

Was THE smartest / hard working team of people I ever worked with. Extremely dedicated individuals worked at this company.

Cons

I was not going to leave any reviews as everyone else goes into pretty deep details about what happened. But seeing a flood of 5 star reviews on August 13th randomly out of nowhere really pissed me off. It is blatantly obvious management at the Buenos Aires office forced their workers to spam positive reviews in wake of all the other reviews coming out.

Pros

One strong product that has an immense amount of potential if they focus development resources correctly. Unlimited vacation.

Cons

I joined the team just before a massive disruption to the organization (a significant merger). Shortly after this, the new investors began to strip away everything that held both the individual companies and the combined organization together; with inevitable results. Good talent left, more good talent was laid off during continual reorganizations. Mass layoffs occurred during time periods (such as two weeks before Christmas when management was done planning them as early as the first week in November) that reinforced the fact that employees were just so much human cattle to the owners. To be clear, layoffs and reorgs are necessary business tools. Undertaking them with no regard to basic decency is unforgivable. Lack of resources was painfully evident, with development slowing to a crawl and field personnel greatly restricted from access to necessary tools. The "old guard" did valiantly attempt to keep the company culture strong, but with most of that old guard fired or otherwise not there anymore, it was a losing battle. Continuously changing product offering packages (as in, massive changes about once a quarter or more frequently) left the sales org paralyzed and unable to properly position anything. Finally, lack of strong development efforts led to a once industry-leading set of products becoming aged to a point beyond outdated. New feature sets and updates were coming, but would not have arrived prior to competition overtaking us and stealing away business. Two entire product lines were removed due to low number of units sold per year - even though their cost to the customer was so high that a low number of units was still a large amount of revenue. The last nail in the coffin was the divestiture of all of the remaining innovative products and the loss of a large number of the remaining solid employees. What's left may be able to stand on its own - but only with a large investment in talent and tech. After the Christmas Massacre, I had to leave, I couldn't keep working for a company that treated their people so horribly. Yes, it's a business and it needs to make money, but there were other options available, including performing the layoffs earlier so that people could at least have a chance at finding a new place before the holiday break. My opinion is that this was just one more move in a line of inexcusable moves that won't end anytime soon. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend anyone sign on to work here.

Thank you for taking the time to put in your review. You are right- although changes are hard, they are necessary to move our company forward, and this was the reason for the recent merger and layoff you experienced while working here. We understand this effected you personally, but our leadership team was transparent with all our employees and communicate the reasons for doing so. Our CEO and our new leadership team all have the right experience and hold strong management values that will result in the company's success. We now have a focused target and our customers are pleased with our latest product release. We are brining in new Talent and retain our great employees so we can all build a great company. Please reach out to HR if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Pros

Product and engineering team members are some of the most professional, selfless, and flexible people I've had the pleasure of working with.

Cons

Salary is not competitive and does not change with the economy. No performance reviews or raises for several years. Got promoted? Great, you have a new fancy title... the catch? Your salary stays the same despite the added responsibilities that middle management will obstruct you from accomplishing. No career opportunities, and training / conferences / seminars are always "not within budget", though YMMV depending on supervisor. Some people are luckier than others. Late or no communication from middle management to individual contributors regarding delivery date changes, resource allocation changes, or new hires (if lucky) Outlook for company is diminishing year by year; every financially-fueled decision has crippled the company in one department or another, and the people on the ground are suffering death by a thousand paper cuts. No product strategy or roadmap; the attempts at it so far are not communicated or are immediately trumped by customer commits. Product progress reports get more distorted the higher they go; it's a serious game of telephone. Executive level management is a revolving door of faces, so don't bother learning them. There's very little diversity, especially in the higher levels.
