    Pros

12.5 hours days. 80/9 shifts mean overtime pay every day. Pretty lax shift managers as long as you're doing your work. I've finished entire series on Netflix during the time between brief periods of work.

    Cons

Strict upper management. Constant rule changes to the production line. Forgetting or messing up a step can get you fired. New hires over couple months due to a firing every couple months.

I worked at Semtech full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company has a good number of social events, most people are friendly, schedules are flexible, the location is good right off the freeway.

    Cons

Management is poor, all around it would seem. They do not value any of their employees and have no problem letting people go on no notice and for no real reason other than they did not meet their financial numbers (AGAIN!). Company is constantly re-organizing upper and mid management, constantly laying off only to rehire new people the following month. They offer great bonuses that they never give out because they can never meet their financial numbers, they offer stock offerings which are of little value because upper management always rewards them selves by diluting millions of shares so by the time you get to sell yours they are worthless. Occasional mid year stock bonuses and options which are again worthless for a stock that seems always in decline.
IT management is terrible! And technology is way behind, the business does not value IT and does not invest in it.

    Advice to Management

Get your act together, offer some employment stability and management stability. Reduce the hostility of the environment and stop the constant layoffs, this effects not only the people you let go but the people who stay behind which impacts productivity and employee engagement across the board.

    Pros

Other than I.T. managent, people or good. Nothing special...just regular totally unachievable work goals...

    Cons

No leadership qualities and absolutely incapable I.T. dept management who try their best to de rail and add frustration to each staff member of the team. This us very true and honest review.

    Advice to Management

Change whole I.T. management from very top to eliminate bad and fear management practices!!!

I have been working at Semtech full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Challenging cutting-edge Technical work in ASIC Mixed Signal Domain
Location Bhubaneswar is a great city to work in with great Quality of Life
Pay structure great for a small city and at par with most of the companies in Bangalore
Corporate policies and employee retirement benifits are great.
Work environment friendly and Great office location

    Cons

    Staff strength less
The stability of the organization as a result of the above automatically comes down.

    Advice to Management

Try to grow the center at Bhubaneswar which will be a great opportunity for the Eastern India Zone and for the organization. As lot of great engineering talent left untapped from the numerous good Technical Institutes at Bhubaneswar.

    Pros

    Free coffee
Nice facilities (gym, basketball/volleyball court, soccer pitch, ping pong table...)
    Company-sponsored activities
    Overall great people

    Cons

Complete lack of review process for management; employees have valuable feedback to provide on how their managers can improve, let them provide it!
Very infrequent promotions across all departments; raises are incremental at best
    Favoritism and politics abound
Forced time off during the holidays; must burn your vacation days or take them unpaid
Over-reliance on specific customers to make financial goals; when they underperform, the company suffers (and frequently goes through a round of layoffs)
Very slow to update machines/software, especially for a tech company
    Mediocre benefits package

    Advice to Management

Provide an outlet for employees to give you feedback and recognize that despite your title, there's still a lot you can improve on too.

    Pros

None. This is not a good company anymore

    Cons

Used to be a good company. Current sr management is self absorbed. Core values dont mean anything

    Advice to Management

The bottom line is important, but the taking care and listening to what the troops have to say is more. Sr Management scares the people!

    Pros

Good engineering team especially the ones marked permanent and very knowledgeable people who I enjoyed working with and learned a lot from their great experience

    Cons

Instability and a lot of layoffs when I worked there I felt a great sense of darkness and gloominess and very uncomfortable to a point that I had a big sigh of relief when let go.

    Advice to Management

Try to understand your people and be less political and more technical, life is short so enjoy it and let people under you enjoy it as well

I worked at Semtech full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It was a pleasure and best experience working with a brilliant group of people, working on leading edge projects. We had a strong team and was able to accomplish a lot even with having a small group and limited resources even having the leadership giving limited funding.

    Cons

Upper management is not knowledgeable with the technology and market of the company they acquire, Apparently every acquired company are filled with leadership people personally close to Semtech's head even if their not experts on that technology space. Bottom line, the net effect is it turns a leading edge business to the least in their space. Very short term outlook and is not calibrated for the long haul. Forces employees to take the accrued vacations while management get's bonuses and project deadlines are not re-adjusted to required vacation forcing people to work on their vacation days.

    Advice to Management

Follow the leadership of Jack Poe, the best CEO the company ever had. He shared wealth even to the least of the employees and have given sincere motivation and self worth, a true empowerment to every employee. At least bring him back to the board so he can help bring the company back to its glory days and success.

I worked at Semtech full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Many coworkers were friendly and helpful.

    Cons

Horrible management. The employees were not paid attention to and the laid off policy is utilized as politicians' tool. The office politics heavily affects the motivation and productivity of this company. Work load is NOT well prioritized or evaluated, and employees may easily get blamed and yelled. Innovation was NOT encouraged but only conducting what was told. Move on if you want to extend creativity.

    Advice to Management

More scientific and professional to your job. Be consistent to what promised and respectful to people who are hard working and dedicated.
