I worked at Service Credit Union (More than a year)

    Pros

Great pay and benefits not bothered often by sr mgmt

    Cons

leaves you to your own devices, not much training, little direction, flys by the seat of their pants often

    Advice to Management

write procedures to everything before you make people do them. and write them in layman's terms. do not expect new employees to know how things "have always been done".

I have been working at Service Credit Union full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are awesome. Paid time off, pension AND 401(k), paid holidays. Coworkers are friendly and helpful. Recent CEO change looks to be for the better.

    Cons

Some managers are still stuck in their old ways of doing things. Pay is not the best but when factored in with the benefits, it's a decent overall compensation.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing at the top.

    Pros

They have a Decent benefits and 401(k) matching program
Executives treat employees terribly but the branch level and department level people are all really great!

    Cons

    Employees are disposable/replaceable
    Cut costs at all costs
Horrible payroll system (paycom, it's awful)
Corporate heads treat employees like dirt

    Advice to Management

Corporate needs to take better care of its people because they truly do have wonderful people at the branch and department level. Their executives just need to learn that their employees are their most valuable asset.

I have been working at Service Credit Union full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits in regards to PTO, health insurance. Very easy to be hired, many employees come with little to no experience

    Cons

Low pay, lots of dead ends, departments don't communicate with one another. Very poor/ not existent training program for new employees

    Advice to Management

Invest in training new employees and advancement opportunities for the employees. Treat your employees well, value them and help them improve at what they do

    "Just Ok"

    Pros

The members and some of the other employees are pleasant to work with. The management isnt great. Not a lot of consistency and the members dont seem to be a priority.

    Cons

Outside of a 401K and a small amount of life insurance; there are essentially no benefits for part-time employees and few full-time positions available which do offer benefits. Part-time employees are scheduled to work 5 to 6 days per week and received no paid-time-off for vacation, illness or family emergencies. They are, however, required to take a 1 week furlough annually which can put an undue financial burden on an employee. Health insurance is a major concern but part-time employees do not have access to the insurance offered by the credit union to full-time employees, with or without company participation.

    Pros

    Has good benefits, excellent 401k

    Cons

Will always back the Branch Managers whether they are right or wrong. Even when department is a revolving door of employees due to incompetent managers. If by chance an upper management person is terminated, its only because they are making executive level look bad, never because of the effects on the manager's staff. HR Dept needs to step up and do what an HR Dept should be doing. Do not brush situations under the rug.

    Advice to Management

Toxic work environments develop toxic employees.

    Pros

Hours aren't bad. After being with the company for some time you have a chance to move up and make more

    Cons

Management think they're untouchable. If you are dislike by management you will be a target for abuse.

To move up in the company it's who you not what you know. And when you know someone higher up, you're untouchable and able to terrorize your branch/ coworkers

    Advice to Management

HR needs to step it up. Come to the branches and make your presence known. Talk to the staff other than management. You'll get a better insight on how they feel

I have been working at Service Credit Union full-time

    Pros

Good 401k matching. Good health insurance coverage. Able to build great working relationships with coworkers. Members are very nice to work with.

    Cons

Upper management is very incompetent. They spend very little time at their branches and have no idea what it takes for a branch to run smoothly . The "new and improved" HR department is horrible. No matter what the problem is the response is the same "suck it up and deal with it". The company is simply looking out for its reputation and has no concern for their employees. Most employees are very unhappy and underpaid. They ask for feedback to make it seem like they care but then do absolutely nothing about it. They have taken away more than they have given in terms of work incentives. Branches are understaffed constantly creating a very stressful work environment for all. There is no formal or consistent training for new employees. Most new employees are overwhelmed and cannot retain that much information at once.

    Advice to Management

Listen to concerns that are brought to your attention. Listen to recommendations given to you by your management staff-they have a better idea of what is going on.

I worked at Service Credit Union full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The members are amazing and appreciate everyone in the credit union. Coworkers cared so much, they basically trained me. You have a chance of moving up if you stay in the same position for years.

    Cons

Not going to get far in the company unless you are a fan of being verbally abused. If you speak up they just shut you down and don't listen to a word you say. You can file formal complaints that HR says they are going to address but then they blow you off and keep you and your coworkers in an environment where your manager lies, is lazy, and does not care about the company.

Bottom line, if you have morals or a strong ethical code, this is not the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Look at your management in the branches. If you get multiple complaints about the same person, it's probably that person that's the issue.
