    "Service Credit Union"

I have been working at Service Credit Union part-time

    Pros

Benefits are great, even as part time. Coworkers are fantastic as well.

    Cons

There aren't many cons to working for Service Credit Union. The only con that I can really think of is that there isn't necessarily a lot of employment option aside from the Corporate Office in Portsmouth.

    Advice to Management

I would suggest having either more branches or just more opportunities within branches. In addition, working from home for the Corporate Office might attract more applicants.

I worked at Service Credit Union full-time

    Pros

Good benefits package, paid time off

    Cons

Takes reps who are not yet ready to go from a MSR to LSR. They fast track reps through the loans process which leaves the member service side of the call center portion short staffed. Management has a tendency to play favorites. Not much room for advancement.

    Pros

They had great pay and benefits.

    Cons

Nothing wrong with the company really, but the way customers treated workers was awful.

I worked at Service Credit Union full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefit package, 401K contribution is set at an automatic 8% from the company.

    Cons

The company is inconsistent. Rules/regulations vary from branch to branch. Also, management really should be evaluated; lots of Seacoast branches have senior-employees who've been with the company a long time and are just "grandfathered" in. They live in the past and are resistant/discriminatory against millennials. Also, they all know each other and have a gossip phone tree. Half of the time I sat back and watched my manager socialize all day.

    Advice to Management

Salaries should be higher, and rules/regulations should be enforced the same way at each location.

    Pros

Know and do your job, and it will get you recognized and promoted in a timely manner.

    Cons

Some mid level management is allowed to stay on despite general incompetence.

    Advice to Management

Be consistent with the bottom level employees, and clear with expectations and what policy actually is.

    Pros

Good pay, extremely helpful coworkers, supervisors and management. Management helps you work around your educational schedule if you are in school.

    Cons

Working in a call center can be dry but that goes along with any call center environment. SCU does a great job at making it as enjoyable as possible.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

I have been working at Service Credit Union full-time

    Pros

Overall, Service Credit Union is a wonderful place to work with lots of amazing individuals at all levels & functions across the organization. The company has excellent benefits. They participate in a great deal of community involvement, most recently with a huge backpack donation campaign. It is currently laying the foundation for a more positive, more engaged workforce, with the new President/CEO - David Van Rossum. Previous President/CEO was out of touch and would remember your name only if you were an "important enough" employee.

    Cons

Incalculable time waste resulting from office gossip, hearsay, and speculation. Employees possessing outclassed production levels go unrecognized. Hazy expectations and indiscernible goals persist. Inefficiency tolerated.

    Advice to Management

All departments need focus, attention, and direction.

    Pros

Excellent health and dental insurance. Start out with 2 weeks vacation time. Some managers very flexible regarding employees' caregiver and parenting responsibilities.

    Cons

Too many managers and too few leaders. Short term goals are consistently given priority over effecting long term improvement. Lack of resources to cope with and/or correct inefficiencies.

    Advice to Management

Demand the resources required to be proactive. Managers just deal with problems as they arise. Leaders go the extra mile to anticipate and head off problems. Be leaders.
