I have been working at Sheetz part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Better pay than most other service jobs
Continuously raises wages to stay on Top 100 Places to Work list
Has a strict but reasonable attendance policy that weeds out flaky employees
Kitchen team structure is constantly improving
Clean environment is always kept up (quality assurance visits once every four-six weeks)
    Discounted food off-the-clock
Is constantly adapting to the market
Will hire part-/full-time security at sites where it's necessary
    Lots of room of advancement
Corporate cares about employees so much it's almost cheesy

    Cons

Attendance system can be harsh on people with young children or a life that's prone to sudden schedule changes and emergencies

I have been working at Sheetz full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good Pay, Benefits, Fantastic people to work with. Cool atmosphere. Amazing discounts. Advancement isnt difficult if youre willing to go the extra mile every day.

ALL Stores are operated directly under the Sheetz Family, which means no Franchises and other Greedy money-grubbing loonies who know nothing about quick service hourly labor and dont demonstrate the values that the founders had created.

    Cons

Pay structure can be found to be too Liberal at times. Pay is good but NOT negotiable at all (Starting pay Including raises. Its all 100 percent automatic after periods of time). Thus it makes it difficult to find AND keep good people to work the harder shifts leaving some stores understaffed. Also some stores have Drive Thrus and depending on the business level often times its sometimes impossible to man the Drive Thru with the amount of people we get on certain shifts especially the later ones.

Also ill mention its not for the faint at heart. You have to be a skilled multitasker ,a fast learner, and have good common sense to thrive in a rigorous fast paced environment. You have to know how to put a smile on your face rather than flip out in disarray when you have those moments where you wanna Scream " ARE YOU KIDDING ME??" You will have those moments and experience those kind of customers that make you say that, The food portion of Sheetz allows customers to customize ridiculous kinds of sandwiches and platters.

    Advice to Management

This is more directed at corporate.

For a while you guys were the leaders of pay in the food/retail/gas industry. Now were seeing more and more companies being able to pay their employees more and theyre rapidly catching up to what we already offered as "The Industry Leading" Pay/ Bonus structure. Id like to see the company wages be more competitive to invigorate productivity in our employees. Invest just a little more in them, you will see the results in more positive form i can promise you

    Pros

Benefits are one of the only pro's some locations on 3rds are easy but not the one I worked at

    Cons

Over worked and expected to do everything while still serving customers

    Advice to Management

Be more hands on and not just always in the office

I have been working at Sheetz full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay (til your 3rd year, raises stop after that without promotion)

The sales people are typically really cool

Benefits + discount + paid break

Fast-paced, so days go by quickly and you always have something you can do

    Cons

Sheetz has a lot of work to do on their management teams. I've worked at multiple stores and seen management teams run them straight into the ground. I've seen managers begging their DMs for help and getting nothing.

I've seen (and even been victim of) bullying by managers constantly (ie punishing employees by making them do ridiculous tasks and talking down to them to the point where they stop showing up to work). It can truly be a miserable environment. There's almost no reward/discipline system. Nothing is handled professionally.

    Advice to Management

Grow up. This isn't high school. Higher ups, please help your sales people. We are being treated like trash by your supervisors and assistants, often for nothing. Favoritism has to stop.

I worked at Sheetz full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Discounts, Hours, Benefits, Consistent Schedule.

    Cons

Nobody seems to really care about how late you are or if you call off so many times in a row. Some stores are consistently under staffed or with staff that simply feels the need to do less and blame others for what they don't do.

    Advice to Management

Hire more staff that aren't just kids who feel like they should just be payed for being there. I don't think I'll ever work a 80 hour week again.
