  • Pay minimum wage nothing higher even with promotions, pay increases based on commission only so if salon is slow your pockets are too (in 21 reviews)

    Pros

    I work with a great group of people. Its nice to go in everyday and really enjoy what your doing and who you are with

    Cons

    I haven't had many issues. When I first started with Regis I was told drama would not be tolerated and if anyone has an issue it gets said and then its done and over. Its applied to all locations that I've been to.

    Pros

    I have worked with my location almost 4 YEARS.. great way to build your business and grow as a stylist .. I have worked in the industry for almost 7 YEARS now and I have made more money here at smartstyle then ANY other salon.

    Cons

    No down sides.. when you work with the public you have to be prepared for any and all situations and handle it with a smile ..😁😁

    Advice to Management

    As the manager .. I will continue to grow with the company but also helping my team grow as well .. always pushing my team to strive for success..

    Pros

    Nice environment with a steady flow of walk ins. Convenient for people on the go.

    Cons

    Not the best at gaining loyal return clients, because of its location. People tend to look down on Smart Styles seeing as inferior because its located in Wal-Mart.

    Advice to Management

    Really there isn't any. My Manager is excellent at her job. She's always there when you need her and tries her best to please her customers and employees.

    Selling to franchisees who have no idea what there doing. Not standing behind there employees.

    Train new owners and let them know what a salon is like before they buy

    Pros

    Get paid hourly even if commissions not met

    Cons

    The atmosphere here is competitive, stressful and not teamwork oriented. Paid minimum wage and very difficult to actually make commission which is 38%. Salon usually has favorites and if favorites do something wrong they will not get in trouble. Stylists don't always do completely professional work also they need to be retrained how to properly use chemicals on guests. Management knows things are done wrong and they are waiting for stylist to learn what not to do after stylist makes mistakes on guests.

    Advice to Management

    Retrain stylist on proper protocols, revise strategy to address acts of harassment and vandalism

    Pros

    Very busy trained in all areas. Just as many kids cuts as adult cuts. Close to home. Easily accessible to all clients.

    Cons

    People are unsure if we were licensed since we were inside of Walmart. Some people were unaware we actually inside of walmart.
