I have been working at SofterWare full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

This will be the last job I have in my life. With at least 15 years to go to retirement there’s no way I’ll be leaving SofterWare. Since day one of my employment I’ve been encouraged to learn, take on additional responsibilities, given space to make my own decisions, make a difference in not only the employee’s careers, but change the world in how we help our clients exceed their own missions. Every day we have the...

    Cons

As we grow and continue to have success there is a need to hire more employees. I think that we could find better ways for everyone to know all employees and their roles. You never know what talents your coworkers have that you could tap into when needed.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to the employees making sure that they are updated when decisions are made to make changes or clarify why changes can’t be made.

I have been working at SofterWare full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    * Casual dress * location is close to major highways and avenues * Decent Onboarding/training program for new hires - even if you had never worked in a CRM before by the time training is done you'll be able to maneuver around the program. * Adequate Benefit options * Flexible with work schedule - can flex time if needed so long as I make up the time during the pay period * Co-Workers are friendly, reliable, and...

    Cons

    * While the company continues to grow, opportunities for advancement do not necessarily continue to grow. * General Product or company-related feedback is often given through an online suggestion box where many times ideas are responded to but never really implemented- it seems like you need to be on good terms with an exec. to really be able to have your voice heard to implement change (otherwise, just posting ideas...

    Advice to Management

Sometimes it feels like the company is undergoing an identity crisis: it was a small company that now finds itself much larger. That's new territory, and good territory at that. However, recognize that this isn't a small company anymore (or at least not as small as it once was) and be open to change that befits a medium-size company. It seems like what defines this company at its best is its striving to care for...

I have been working at SofterWare full-time

    Pros

Majority of the people who work at SofterWare are sincere, motivated and have integrity for humanity and contribute to the nonprofit industry, which makes it feel more like a meaningful place to work. There are many opportunities for one to advance skill sets in their current role, which makes you more marketable for future career opportunities. There is a lot of potential for this company to evolve into something much...

    Cons

Years of service is valued more than years of actual job experience, so if you don’t plan to stay for a while, don’t plan on being promoted or considered for career opportunities….unless you are the small percentage of professional people who consider a lateral move a promotion. There is very little room for upward pay scale opportunities, especially in software development. Executive management hinders middle management...

    Advice to Management

As the company grows, I highly recommend you define roles more clearly and define career paths that will act as the true incentive behind employee engagement to support internal retention. Don’t be afraid to allow others to drive direction, but more importantly, make sure you are there to support decisions when an executive voice is really needed at the table to set the tone.

    I worked at SofterWare full-time

    Pros

Overall SofterWare has a good small company (community) atmosphere and this allows for flexibility you wouldn't traditionally find in a larger software company.

    Cons

In some ways the size of the company might limit upward mobility, but I am sure inspired individuals have room for increased responsibility and pay.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job in conveying organizational vision and long term goals. It would be better if everyone in the company knew where the products where going.

I worked at SofterWare for more than 3 years

    Pros

Working with nonprofit clients is great, and there are a lot of good, hardworking people at the company. Nice building to work in.

    Cons

Some upper management are very dishonest, controlling, vindictive and unimaginative. A lot of infighting at this company due to poor management. Too much gossiping, tearing people down.

    Advice to Management

Treat people better. Just saying you value employees and actually valuing them are two different things. Walk the talk.

    Pros

Inspiring and rewarding work, great people and a great atmosphere - what more could you ask for? I am grateful for my job and appreciate the autonomy to try new things and grow professionally.

    Cons

It's definitely a collaborative place to work, which is great, but sometimes decisions are made 'by committee' which can slow down making progress. But, considering this is really the only con I can think of, I still think it's a great place to work!

I have been working at SofterWare

    Pros

Softerware is all it's cracked up to be and more. I've been with the company for a little over 2 years and I'm still waiting for someone to pinch me. I've never worked for a company that cared so much about their employees. We are voted best place to work in Philly for a reason! Every single person I come in contact with whether it be managers, directors, executives they wall know my name and are always pleasant.

    Cons

When I was first hired and going through the on-boarding process the amount of information and material that was thrown at me was a bit daunting. I was reassured by everyone that it would all click and it did
