Pros

Opportunity to work on established financial technology products.

Cons

I worked at the company for several years and ultimately decided to leave due to concerns around leadership direction and organizational culture. One of the biggest challenges was the leadership style of the CTO. Rather than being viewed as a go-to technology leader who could inspire teams and provide a clear product and engineering vision, interactions often felt highly task-oriented and transactional. There was limited focus on building an inclusive engineering culture or fostering collaboration across teams. A recurring concern was the lack of a clearly communicated technology roadmap. Teams frequently found themselves reacting to short-term priorities instead of working toward a well-defined long-term strategy. This created uncertainty and made it difficult for employees to understand how their work contributed to the company's future direction. There also appeared to be significant reliance on third-party vendors for key initiatives, which sometimes resulted in internal teams feeling disconnected from important decisions and reduced opportunities for employees to contribute strategically. Many meetings seemed to focus on operational or administrative topics rather than product innovation, technology advancement, customer value, or engineering excellence. Employees often looked for more meaningful discussions around product development, technical challenges, and future growth plans. The situation became more concerning as layoffs began, which further impacted morale and confidence across the organization. Communication during this period could have been more transparent and reassuring.

Pros

*Talented employees who are committed to customers and product success. *WFH

Cons

*Technology leadership lacks a clear and consistent vision for engineering excellence and innovation. * The CTO frequently focuses discussions on topics that seem unrelated to technology strategy, architecture, product delivery, or engineering challenges. Many meetings end without clear technical direction or actionable outcomes. * There is a noticeable preference for external consulting and third-party teams over internal engineering talent. *External teams are often given higher visibility, greater influence in decision-making, and priority access to leadership, while experienced internal employees may feel their expertise is undervalued. * Important technical decisions are sometimes influenced by third-party vendors who may not have the same understanding of the product, customers, or long-term business needs as internal teams. * This approach has affected morale within engineering teams and created concerns about career growth, recognition, and trust in internal capabilities. * Engineering teams would benefit from more direct engagement from leadership on technical challenges, architecture decisions, and product strategy.

Disappointing tech leadership

Pros

Colleagues at the team level are supportive and collaborative.

Cons

The technology leadership has been one of the most disappointing aspects of the organization. The leadership style is heavily task-oriented, with little focus on employee development, mentorship, or team engagement. Some key concerns include: *Lack of respect and professional courtesy toward employees across different levels. *Communication often comes across as rude, dismissive, and discouraging. *Limited focus on innovation, technical excellence, or long-term engineering strategy. *Decisions are frequently made without seeking input from experienced internal team members. *Heavy dependency on third-party vendors for critical technical decisions and solution delivery. *Internal talent and subject matter expertise are often overlooked. *Little encouragement for knowledge sharing, learning, or technical growth within the team. *Employee feedback is rarely acknowledged or acted upon. *Recognition is inconsistent, leading to low morale and reduced motivation. *A culture of execution at any cost rather than collaboration and continuous improvement. *Lack of transparency in decision-making and prioritization. *High-performing employees may feel undervalued due to limited opportunities to influence outcomes.
