    Pros

Good people, decent benefits, medically useful technology

    Cons

no employee development, no upward mobility

    Advice to Management

The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing, and that prevents company (and employee) progress. Management needs to get their heads out of their backsides and pay attention to what is going on. Sales people aren't the only important part of the company, stop wasting money giving them freebies all the time, pay attention to the working people.

    I worked at Spectranetics full-time

    Pros

Even though the company is mid-sized they do operate like a start up but the work life balance is good. Other than that it goes all downhill from there.

    Cons

The HR at the company are the worst. You can never get a response from them. Either they are lazy or understaffed so they need to figure out a way to get better. If you have an urgent issue forget about it. It takes a number of emails and messages to get any kind of response.
The management has no clue what they are upto. They come up with random strategies that never work.
You can participate in ESPP but cannot sell for upto a year.
    401K matching is bad.
Organisation structure is flat so there is no upward mobility.

    Pros

Scott Drake is an excellent leader. Hearing him speak with make you motivated for the company's future and plan. Other plus are good work life balance, and culture. Less stress than in years prior.

    Cons

Constant changes in sales strategy. Rushed the AngioScore acquisition which created lots of turnover. Better now. Does not bonus hardworking employees enough, investments seem to go elsewhere. Systems used in company are in need of major upgrades.

    Advice to Management

Need to create more advancement opportunities from within, promote those who have had success. Recognition in awards in nice, but salary raises, stock options, and career advancement would be much more appreciated !

Only con for me so far is the commute, although still not too bad. Maybe lack of cafes within walking distance.

    Pros

Spectranetics has really great R&D, to me it's about saving lives. I am coming up on three years, that's why I stay

    Cons

HR just pays lip service, some days it can be heard in the parking lot. The last few years have been nothing but hot air. My main concern is the earnings over reported. We have lost half of our stock price. Continual talk of ethical business, the truth will come out in the end.I love my team mates, well at least the one's who aren't busy sucking up. Not what it used to be!

    Advice to Management

Quit playing God you're making it off of our backs, just remember greediness is met with justice.

I worked at Spectranetics (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good compensation and commission. The work itself is very interesting. Good sales and marketing support.

    Cons

Promotions and awards are almost completely given to favorites. Certain people are set up for success (by opportunities or giving more attainable plans to the favorites). Terrible regional managers in the south

    Advice to Management

Be less punitive and more reasonable in your commission plans

I worked at Spectranetics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Overall, a notably talented workforce.
Better than average benefits. I'd grade it as a B- or B.
Good access to tools & technology. Decent laboratories, great machine shop, usually willing to invest in the right equipment provided it doesn't cost an arm. That last point isn't always true, but more often than not.

    Cons

The politics happening at the upper-most levels of the company is mind-boggling. The subsequent drama trickles downwards and results in corporate inefficiency. Doing the right thing often takes a back seat to bonuses for the executives. As the politics flourish, so do the problems; they were hit with ten 483's just last week after fulfilling several years of a Corporate Integrity Agreement with the FDA within the past couple years.

    Advice to Management

Have each member of the Senior Leadership Team take a personality test for narcissism. The ten individuals who rate as the most narcissistic should find a replacement by promoting internally. It'll be a win financially and a win for morale!
