"If you're a developer, great company to work for. Any other position, though, proceed with caution."

    Pros

Part of a large, relatively financially stable organization.

    Cons

Company does not fully understand marketplace and does not invest enough in its products to keep them relevant in the marketplace. Revenue growth is achieved through acquisition only.

    Advice to Management

Invest in a substantial rewrite of your core products, else face extinction longer term as there are too many pure Java and .Net solutions on or coming to the market that will ultimately eliminate your core products from even being considered for evaluation. Your core differentiator is your financial strength and the comfort that it can provide CIO's making a decision. However, Oracle's recent acquisition of Adminserver takes away the only landmine (it's financial strength) associated with that company. Oh, and the fact that your core solution can only run on Oracle technology must really tick you off....did Oracle even speak with you prior to the acquisition (probably not).

I have been working at SunGard Insurance Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Stable, if you looking for something slow and steady, this is the place. The career path can be vague sometimes. The business units tend to operate as separate companies, some better than others.

    Cons

Benefits package has eroded over the years. At one time it was quite good, now it's not much better than what would be available on the open market.

    Advice to Management

Continue with the employee engagement program you started a few years ago.
