I worked at SurModics as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

pay is okay, nothing else for pros

    Cons

new management, a temp supervisor who doesn't know anything about the coating department, no more flexibility

    Advice to Management

Don't assume things and try to change things here if you don't anything about the job itself and how hard it is for the workers actually doing the job. For the new supervisor temp person, you shouldn't make up lies to the temp agency where you're also from to get other temps fired for petty and untrue reasons. Yeah sure, you can fire without reason since it's our contract, but having had heard from Verum about what you told them is just plain disgusting and inhumane. Have some self decency as another human being instead of being an ahole 247. That's why nobody likes you at Surmodics, not even the higher ups except for the only person who brought you here. That's my advice to you, change your ways and actually know what it is being a supervisor because your portrayal of one is ridiculous and hilarious to a lot of people there. The CEO needs to know what is going on and what happened and what is still happening in coating services because this new supervisor guy pretty much fired all the good ones. Now I'm hearing from current employees still there how scrambled they are now. I was promised title and pay as a QC inspector there but now they have someone who can't inspect for quality that well and who doesn't follow policy and procedures even on line clearance to do 2nd/3rd level inspections. Let alone perform basic math and english speaking skills. Good luck with trying to keep the Jellyfish DC customers. You guys are going to lose them big time.

I worked at SurModics as an intern

    Pros

Friendly co-workers, meaningful assignments, good flexibility and work/life balance

    Cons

Small office location, which may be a con for some but a pro for others if you want to get to know your co-workers!

    Advice to Management

Continue to build a reputation recruiting at colleges for intern and entry-level hires

    Pros

SurModics is a company poised for the future. They have very talented, innovative and dedicated employees who are great to work with. The culture is positive and fun with a small company feel.

    Cons

There are times when resources may be spread thin but that can be a good thing as it allows the company to stay nimble and strong.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing! Continue investing in the learning and development of the great people you have while nurturing the positive and innovative culture.

I have been working at SurModics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nothing is good about this "Flim Flam" Bozo Company!!!

    Cons

Why the FDA had not yet cracked down on this company is beyond me! Training consists of simply signing a form on a project,(to appear to appease the FDA), without ANY real formal training! Yet the employee is held fully accountable for the results and the "quality"! If the FDA REALLY knew how they ran this business, they would shut them down in a heartbeat. They cheat and hide procedures when they know that the FDA is going to do an audit. Lead weights used to hold catheters in position while coating! (Well folks, lead is a poison!) The FDA direly needs to very closly investigate SurModics With a very fine tooth comb! Medical Device companies should avoid SurModics at all costs, or you may be pulled down with them by the FDA & ISO!!!!!

    Advice to Management

The FDA is coming for YOU! You're day of reckoning is close at hand! Prison time for YOU, and or huge fines!!!

I worked at SurModics part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with, complete in explaining all that is expected of me and they were patient in the training involved in all areas.

    Cons

Computer work , especially with international shipments. This was accomplished.

    Advice to Management

Make sure orders are sent down to the warehouse asap to aid in both accurate picking and timely processing.

    Pros

Flexible with time, (ie. being able to leave for an appt and come back to work). Not always so routine. Tasks and projects may vary month to month.

    Cons

No good checks and balances system for management. No recognition to the hard working individuals which in turn causes dissatisfaction and bad relationships between a person and their manager. 401K matching has stopped for almost a year, yearly raises have simply been cost of living adjustments (if that much).

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and pay attention to who is working and what is being done. Be more appreciative of someone giving their all and their time to the company.
