I have been working at Sysmex America full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Sysmex offers a genuinely supportive and positive environment. Training is very thorough and far better than what I had received elsewhere. They set individuals up for success and upper management encourages employees to grow, learn and share ideas/concepts. The benefit package is wonderful and well above average.

    Cons

I have not found a con thus far.

    Advice to Management

Continue to foster growth and development, it is very appreciated.

I have been working at Sysmex America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I work for the company for over 3 years. It is a good company for someone who wants to collect a paycheck. Good pay and benefit. if short, make your customer happy and sit back to collect your paycheck. For real....

    Cons

if you want more for yourself, go somewhere else. if you love to challenge yourself, do more than your everyday job. Forget... ain't gonna happen with sysmex.

    Advice to Management

You guys are killing ingenuity... what does the company do for the next gen leaders? Nothing...except you are maybe in Lincolnshire...

    Pros

Travel, you get to travel to some pretty cool places

    Cons

Management doesn't really care about you. Just about what numbers you put up.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your engineers, they are getting severely burned out by the number of hours.

I worked at Sysmex America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pay and benefits were better than average.

    Cons

Everything else. Gaslighting, moving goal posts, subtle verbal abuse, no faith in employees, micromanagement, being constantly reminded that you are easily replaceable, watching entire departments like regulatory get outsourced. All of that, and you will likely not gain any new skills to add to your resume.

    Advice to Management

Your problems lie at the directors and above level. The amount of politics at that level trickles downward and creates a very hostile work environment. Clean house at the top and create an environment where employees are respected.

    Pros

Great technology Financially strong company A paycheck

    Cons

Racial and ethnic discrimination Gender discrimination Growth, development and basic respect depend on your race, gender and department

    Advice to Management

Stop being racist. There's no point to offer advice because they won't take what comes from the wrong "type" of person. Furthermore, any advice given will be used to gaslight the next person with creative stories about why blatant unequal treatment on the basis of demographics is the employee's fault for being (insert overly used stereotypical adjective for that person's demographic here), as well as for the... overall good of the work and the brand. It really isn't. The tom foolery is high here. Chicago has its first Black woman mayor and they act like they live on Mars. While, STEM diversity is an industry and educational topic that many relevant companies are at least trying to even possibly pretend to care about. They do the exact opposite of that here and are proud of it. So no advice to give. Is what it is.

I have been working at Sysmex America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very good pay, performance based bonuses, telecom allowance or business phone, company vehicle or vehicle allowance for remote employees, company credit card for business related expenses. If you feel underappreciated and work hard at your current position, this is a place that allows you to stand out. Workaholics will thrive here. Generous PTO, management actively encourages PTO use, it's not discouraged to take... week-long PTO several times per year, at least in my work group. While work is mostly independent, asking questions, curiosity, and assistance is readily available. If you are MT or MLS looking for employment outside of the lab, I would seriously consider Sysmex.

    Cons

With each product, there are a few key employees who have the majority of knowledge and experience. If you have questions that only these people have answers to, they are always very busy and it can time some time to hear back. Promotion inside a work group can be a slow process, if advancement is important to you, look for advancement opportunities outside of your work group. In-house employees work typical... 9AM-5PM central time schedules, if you are remote and need help from someone at HQ outside of these hours you'll be waiting until they either come in for the day or until the next morning; not a big deal if you are on central time but can be problematic if you are working on the east or west coast.

    Advice to Management

Communication is a two-way street. Candid, non-business related conversations now with your direct reports now can yield greater productivity in the future. Over time, not only will you get more honest feedback from your employees. Do not be so transactional in your relationships with direct reports. Have more people train/work with your key employees so certain knowledge isn't so hard to find independently. ... Allow time for further development of internal documentation and resources so knowledge isn't so scattered. This goes for TAC, WAM, HITS, and Applications.

    I worked at Sysmex America

    Pros

Nice building, some great amenities, few good managers

    Cons

HR unprofessional and undertrained, company not honest with offers

    Advice to Management

Managers with previous relationships from other companies shouldn’t make decisions for hands on managers/departments. Going around a Manager to get what you want and using a prior relationship is unprofessional, bad for business and causes high school gossip. When you have people vomiting at work SEND THEM HOME. Wearing masks, allowing 10 minute cough attacks and almost an entire department to continue to work... in this condition is absurd. Go back to separating vacation and sick time since managers are more interested in getting the work done than a healthy environment. It can cause damaging lifelong health effects to others and ruins lives. HR should not be allowed to poke at a person’s disability multiple times.

I worked at Sysmex America full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

You learn inventive technologies. You can learn a wide range of different aspects of the lab. Decent benefits and raises.

    Cons

Worst management ever. I went through 3 bosses in a matter of 6 years. If you arnt in the "in crowd" you are eventually pushed out of the company and feel un-wanted. Management never takes advice or thoughts of doing things differently into consideration. The employment turn over rate is outrageous. They try to make their employees happy but its never with good intentions. Overall this company doesnt know what it... is doing in regards to the molecular biology field.
