Pros

People I work with. Work is interesting. Profits were good.

Cons

Everything changed downward in 2 weeks. I’m a single Dad and has appreciated the flexibility I had in my role. We could occasionally work remotely as needed. Well that all changed when my manager said I had to go back into the office. I told him we were very productive and met all deliverables. Could this be adjusted or changed? Could I change to remote work.? I was told no we have to do what senior leadership and HR is asking with the new policy. Where am I supposed to put my kids? Summer ballet camp has closed. No daycare exists for my youngest. I don’t want now to leave her with a stranger or other unknown kids given the unknown effects of COVID.

Pros

The opportunity to meet and make friends with fellow associates while you're there. The Christmas parties were pretty fun too.

Cons

With the exception of one or two managers, the rest of middle management has absolutely no clue how their reports actually perform their duties. Yet they reprimand you sharply (they even issue written warnings!) when uninvolved third parties make random false claims against you. Even without taking time to explore said claims. There is no feeling of belonging, or of achievement, or of security. Your manager does not have your back. This is a company that grew extremely fast, and the power of the highest management is wielded with an iron fist and a sword. Before this growth, Sysmex was a 9 (out of 10). Now it's a 1. There are opportunities for immeasurable success, yet the powers that be won't allow it. 10+ hour days were not unusual; not exactly ideal when a family needs you at home. I even had to bring my children to work when I was required to work on holidays, because sitters were not available. Annual increases were as low as 0% (not a typo), and as high as 4%. This company is unfortunately the true definition of a grinder.
