I have been working at Systems Integration & Development full-time

    Pros

On-boarding was a smooth transition and overall my team is great! The HQ staff is very welcoming and their turnaround time is great! I can always depend on them to answer any questions I may have.

    Cons

Depending on a contract win to keep your job. But SID has many contracts throughout the DMV. These could be potential backup plans.

Great benefits, bonus structure, positive recognition, and good work environment. Gain lots of experience and opportunity for career growth.

    Cons

No real cons other than no transportation incentive.

    Advice to Management

More team bonding events would be nice.

I worked at Systems Integration & Development full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

there were no good things to say about this company

    Cons

This place was a total gong show. Rampant HR violations, people screwing around, management acting like children, people underpaid, overworked, and asked to do things they had no training for.

    Advice to Management

Seriously, you guys need to shape up. You're so focused on hitting the lowest bar possible to shave off some extra money for yourselves that you can't even get the basics of organizing your workforce together. The problem is definitely one of senior management and anti-employee attitudes.

    Pros

Your standard government contractor, contract positions generally pay well, HR is fast, responsive,

    Cons

Pays straight time for overtime, not a lot of transparency, usually not willing to present opportunities past short term contracts

    Advice to Management

    Hire employees, not contractors

I worked at Systems Integration & Development (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly staff at first. Started with a manager who seemed decent and he was gone after the first month of the contract. Second manager was pleasant, helpful, and had an open door policy. I liked the team I worked with at the client site.

    Cons

Disorganized, manager after my second manager was difficult. Not personable at all. Cared about bottom line more than employees. Several people were "let go" by this manager. Disconnect between corporate office and client site. No defending of employees to customer. They do not have your back. My task manager on the federal side was a much better manager and was pleased with my work.

    Advice to Management

Don't use employees as if they can be discarded at a moment's notice. Have a backbone when dealing with the customer. It is important that they get what they want, but not at the expense of contract employees.

I have been working at Systems Integration & Development full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

My flexible work schedule allows me to get to doctors appointments. For someone like me that has some health issues and has to set up many appointments with different doctors/specialists the flexible work schedule is a relief.
SID offers a wide range of benefits for a company of its size.
Having 10 paid Holidays per year is a definite plus!!
Management recognizes that career advancement is important to every employee and therefore provides training to assist with employee's career goals.

    Cons

It would be great to be paid weekly instead of semi-monthly.

    Pros

Senior Management knows every employee by name, both at HQ and client sites
Robust benifit plan, very good HR staff
Pay is appropriate to the position held, vacation/sick days/ holidays are standard.
Leadership has a good plan for the future of the company and values the employees inputs. Communication is effective and the CEO has an open door policy. If you have an issue, he will actually talk with you and try to resolve it.

    Cons

HQ in Rockville and most contracts in DC, which can cause some people to feel disconnected.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. Continue to share with the rest of the company the plans for the future and let the staff know how much they are valued.
