I worked at TMX Group full-time

    Pros

The development and opportunities vary greatly; I enjoyed working with my team and had exposure to senior management. The organization is relatively flat, so if you work hard it will be noticed. Good life balance. Decent benefits. If you are client facing, there is excellent exposure to build relationships.

    Cons

The company has a lot of people who need to be shuffled. There are many people with a utility attitude and have been promoted over the years. In some cases, it's great and there is a lot of history that is maintained but in some ways the groups are led by poor leaders/insecure leaders that teach poor behavior that isn't seen in growth companies. The compensation is on the lower side. The importance of courses and education has taken a step back.

    Advice to Management

Keep the flat org structure but consider expanding to perks that would keep strong performers which includes higher pay and better rewards.

    Pros

    Pros

Not a lot of pros. The company is like a Trojan horse. Looks good on the outside but has a horrible surprise on the inside.

    Cons

Poor management, lack of employee moral, monopolistic mentality. Everyone seems busy but nothing actually gets done. Lack of total concern of spending shareholders resources.

I have been working at TMX Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good downtown location, open office environment, interesting to follow the stocks

    Cons

Look at the news articles about what happened in September 2016. Hard working friends and colleagues walked out the door with no notice, security and all...no respect...shocking...CEO cowardly tried to whitewash it a week after the firings, but the internet will tell the truth. Everyone is super stressed now. Appalling leadership and environment. Super unproductive. Morale has been rock bottom since and treatment of employees has never been worse. Stay away if you can.

    Advice to Management

Replace yourselves and focus on long term growth instead of short term stock gains.

    Pros

Fair salary for the workload. Managers were competent. Exciting and growing organization. Decent benefits package. Management respected abilities of staff.

    Cons

New org structure is yet to be proven. Will need some time to work through the new structure. There is inflexibility in terms of working remotely.

I worked at TMX Group (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent work environment, great culture, company treated its employees well, and lots of opportunity for internal advancement.

    Cons

Not very many cons to this company, the work was great and the people were even better. The company had a lot of room for improvement on certain efficiencies, however.

    Advice to Management

A lot of unnecessary meetings, there is still lots of room for management to create efficiencies, however overall a well managed company
